When Was The Last Time A Game Took Over Your Life?

Ladies and gentlemen, I have a problem. As problems go, it's a bloody marvellous one, but it's a situation that's taken over my life to an almost unprecendented degree. I've found myself completely and utterly, gloriously and pathetically, willingly, slavishly obsessed with a new game. And I'd like to share my tale of happy bondange in the hope of finding out that I'm not alone in the degree of my fixation. After all, as happy as I am, there could be something seriously wrong with me. Every heroin addict has a great time for a while, right?

And we also have Aion, WOW, WAR, FFXI and GW (still the best MMORPG I've ever played - and free too!). Generally speaking, I have a weakness for grindy, Asian, online games.

Most recent...Alan Wake...incredible graphics and story that , like the movie 6th sense, you have to start over again once finished to figure stuff out...what you mean the island/cabin hasn't been there since the seventies...Dr Hartman...Alan, you've been my patient here at the lodge the whole time...WTF...great fun...

Splinter Cell Conviction...HUGE plot twist a couple hrs in and some of the best game play this gen...

Metro 2033...it didn't want to end...great atmosphere and graphics...many panic type of moments wnen your trying to find a door with no air left in your mask....Nooooooo...Stealth missions...on rail sections...definitely a sleeper hit....

This was the highlight the last several WKs...looking foward to rent RDR...Sam Fisher wins tho...OUTSTANDING...Chk out the DEMO...8+ hrs or this...

RDR is so impressive with its possibilities.

I love to just play poker for a whole play session, the game is not only the best western, but also the best poker video game I played.

I finish almost every game I rent or buy within a week usually.

But There was at least one game that made me think about it all day in school, and I couldnt stop playing it for months, untill completing it 100%. That game was mario 64 back when I was 10 years old. Maybe because it was the first 3d platform game I ever played I dont know.

Uh... I did it at very sparse manner since it was SO tedious (managing it without any guides)! And to add to that, my first playthrough was something so incredible I scarcely could bother doing it again alone *wink* is such an... inferior way.

hahaha yea when done right it feels wrong to do it badly on purpose, but something about the game just compelled me to try and do everything including for the first time in my life try and get a platinum trophy(could have cared less before)

The Gold finger trophy was brutal to watch though.

I could neither properly sleep, or work until I finished of the collectors in Mass Effect 2. That game's story was really intense.

Intense? I didn't think so. After plunging through Omega 4 relay it becomes pretty good but prior to that, going around the galaxy getting some weird mates onboard isn't that intense. Especially, since no-ones seems to give a crap about the insurmountable threat of the imminent Reaper fleet! It's absurd that they still worry about some family stuff..

the game was definitely fun but I agree with Downtown boogey it wasn't that intense. I actually found the last area a bit underwhelming, really cool with the various jobs and wacky final boss but not that gripping and intense..but probably just me.

Red Dead Redemption is so addicting. I shouldn't have ANY time to play games. Somehow I find myself playing RDR all the time. I didn't think I would have time after the first weekend (when it came out) so I played for 2 days straight. The story is amazing, and the stranger missions are fun. It is similar to GTA but yet so different. It's the 'old west'....The Dead Eye ability adds so much fun to the game. Playin poker is awesome too--if you where the suit and cheat it's a lot of fun, especially when you get caught b/c then you get to duel with the guy that caught you...RDR is amazing

Only GT4 took over my life and I played that for 700hrs. I guess the closest game too GT4 recently is MW2 even though its an OK game its so addicting. 384hrs I spent on MW2 so far.

Red Dead Redemption - I seriously just can't get enough of that beautiful little title. The story grabbed hold of me and shook me around like a ragdoll, and my faffing about problem that I thought was gone after I finally laid Fallout 3 down, came back with a vendetta.

Before that it was MW2 - I know this game gets a lot of hate, but when you have a lot of online mates who play it and jump into their games, it quickly becomes fun no matter how you look at it. Got all the way to 4th prestige, and then gave it up, I still play at least once a week a well.

Finally and probably most notably Fallout 3 - I seriously Hijacked my cousins 360 for about a week and a half before I bought the game myself. It also officially started my Faffing about Fetish! I recently looked over my save files and have put as much as 200 hours into that bloody thing, Jesus Christ, I think I might've forgotten what the sun looked like at one point. =/

It's happened a few times for me...This gen it was Fable II. and I don't even like rpgs...Years ago it was Blast Corps for the N64. Couldnt stop till I got gold on everything. The worst was the original X-Com for the PS1. Hated it at first, but would up playing it for about 8 to 10 hours a day for a month. I kept on having X-Com nightmares all that while....good times...
