Rockstar Table Tennis for Wii

Rockstar's Table Tennis game is heading to Nintendo Wii this autumn. Developed by Rockstar Leeds (aye) in collaboration with Rockstar San Diego (yo), "Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis" will presumably use the Wiimote like a table tennis racket.

"Ever since we released Table Tennis, fans have been asking us to create a Wii version," Rockstar's Sam Houser said.

"By bringing Table Tennis to the Wii and utilising the motion-sensitive Wii Remote, a new audience can now experience a game that is beautifully designed and impossible to put down."

This game is really great on 360 - does a pretty good job of replicating the actual sport. I can't see how it would be good on the Wii - it's cool that they are trying and maybe they'll get it right, but I'm not too optimistic.

not saying that the Wii will be perfect and not saying i will get it because the controlls will be more realistic, but can you explain this to me since i havnt played it:

how does it replicates the actual sport if you play it with a gamepad?

I used to be an avid table tennis player and while this game is by far the most realistic table tennis simulation, you do bring up a good point sidar. The Wii remote has far more potential in replicating the actual sport, as WiiSports is far better at replicating the sport of tennis than Virtual Tennis for example. Unfortunately, I think the controls would have to be nothing short of amazing to create the immersive table tennis experience that I think everyone will be expecting of this game.

I wouldn't be suprised if R* screws up the control scheme, but sports in my opinion could never be realistic with a gamepad.
I haven't played the game on 360 so i was wondering, how it could replicate the real thing.
maybe i should give it a go....maybe i will change my mind.

It's pretty realistic in the way that it looks and, more importantly, plays - in the way that sports games generally do. I wasn't referring to the controls. I don't think the Wiimote has the subtlety to handle this type of gameplay - handling different combinations of spin/speed etc. You'd have to use the nunchuck or button presses to modify your shot and by then the illusion is broken - it may as well be a gamepad.
