Red Dead Redemption Dev Prefers Xbox 360

Red Dead Redemption is now out and doing pretty well. It was sold out in many stores in the UK while topping the software sales charts everywhere it’s available. Lazlow, one of the game’s developers and the radio DJ featured in the GTA games had a very long and interesting discussion with the BBC News Beat, and in the interview a very pointed question was asked.

I agree that rockstar's online offerings aren't exactly "this gen", however, the ONLY thing xbox can lord over the ps3 is its superior online integration. For some people, this is more important than other features or graphics. I wish I had a similar online system for my ps3, to be honest.I find the ps3's "in game" system cumbersome and slow to respond. I can see the devs preference, as it is common.Its just plain easier to work with, however, nothing great comes from taking the easy road, and ps3 exclusives are a great example of that.

Everybody is entitled to their opinions. I myself like both consoles for different reasons. The 360 is great for multiplatform games, has an excellent online service and some awesome exclusives. The PS3 has some amazing exclusives, lots of cool multimedia features and a great, free online service. I'm happy I own them both.

I have both the 360 and PS3, so I am qualified to comment on this.

With Live, other than cross-game chat, it's also a bit easier to party up with friends outside of the game befor jumping in.

That's it, though. Do I like it? Yes. Is it "$50" better? Frankly, no. Everything feels a bit laggier on the 360 online, too...even given the same game.

Xbox live is the strongest feature of the 360..20 Million people subcribe to it and no matter what the haters believe..they make actually prefer it

I own both systems too..if the game is a multi-plat and it has multi-player that takes advantage of Live (ie. Lost Planet 2, Call of Duty, Red Dead) then it's always going to be a 360 purchase.

PS3 has ruled the single player adventure game experience

360 has ruled the online multi-player experience with Live

oh as for last FM (which i love on my 360)........Pandoras radio on ps3 has the same functionality....its just not ps3 intergrated.....as for XNA if you dont know any programming id love to see you make a game on it. For the avg. joe thats what LBP2 is for and even then it wont be easy because making fully functional games isnt easy, the best xna title is clearly the dishwasher nothing else comes close.

But to act like PSN has no pluses is insanity, both have ups and downs, and yes psn and xbl lags ocassionally, and i have fios.

I am personally a gamer. A real gamer. I don't choose sides in the console war. Why? Because as a gamer I choose to own all systems and enjoy the perks that each system offers.

The 360 is a great console...except that it have reliability issues. Live is excellent with a ton of features not found elsewhere. The games are top notch as well. Multiplatform games are generally better on the 360. A reason alone to own it. The exclusives are incredible as well.

The PS3 is a heck of a system. PSN isn't as advanced but hey, it is free and you can't argue that. There is HOME....while not my type of thing it is there and it is Free! The exclusives are the reason to own the PS3. There are games on the PS3 you will not see on any other system. Generally for the PS3, I skip multiplatform games and get them on the 360 for reasons I stated above.

PC is another great machine if you can afford to own one capable of running the latest and greatest maxed out. Luckily I am. Over the years, PC gaming has gone down hill some but still, there are some great games to be had.

As you see, I am a gamer. Many of you on N4G are just like me. All about the games. Those who involve themselves in the flame-wars are those who have serious misconceptions and/or the inability to purchase all the consoles. It is those that I feel for.

I have both a 360 and a PS3 and I personally prefer XBL over PSN to the point the my PS3 isn't even connected to the internet anymore. PSN does not fit my needs period, does that mean XBL is better than PSN in my eyes yes, but I can only speak for myself... Geez you guys act as if you don't care for PSN than something is wrong, and you geez must have some pretty screwed up connections because I never experience lag on XBL, but I do have downloads that take forever on PSN so that's subjective.

Nike - Final Cut Pro on a current MAC would be using an Intel X86 chipset with ATI or nVidea GPU. raztad's point is correct. A "PC" is pretty standardized hardware these days whether it is a generic looking Windows machine or Mac with a shiny white plastic case.

Red Dead Redemption looks nothing bad like some haters are saying it is on the PS3. It looks just fine to me, it looks just like how I expected it to look. The art direction and scenery in the game looks incredible. I really think there has been a big deal made out of these PS3 vs 360 version comparisons. It seems like the 360 fanatics are clutching on straws on this one, they know the PS3 produces better graphics and they wanna make noise and say one multi-plat game is better on their machine. Try again! There is nothing wrong with the PS3 version, dont listen to these haters.

It's common knowledge at this point that there are aspects of the 360 version that look better.

I have the PS3 version as well, and I agree, while you're playing, if you dont have anything to compare it to then you dont think about the visual flaws, but they do exist.

The PS3 version has pretty crappy anti aliasing, and the textures are blurrier.

And by the way, we have over 3 years of multiplats that look better on the 360, which everyone seems to know but you. Sometimes they are equal, very rarely better on the PS3, and almost always better on the 360.

Ignore the facts though if you want, whatever helps you sleep better at night. Again ive got a PS3, but im not stupid either. I know damn well the 360 is a kick ass gaming machine, as good as the PS3 and ever better in some ways due to its more powerful GPU.

serious in my life. But I definitely do NOT loose sleep about different pixels and textures in a PS3 vs 360 screenshot comparison. I'm just letting anyone interested to know, that they should not believe the bad stuff being said about the PS3 version because its not true from what I've seen.

Ok, if it makes you happy, then the PS3 version is crappy, with poor graphics. At least thats what you wanna hear right? Well, I'm very sorry to spoil your celebration party, because my 20' Sony Bravia HD TV in native 720p settings says it's not. From the way you talk, you sound a 360 fanatic, I don't quite believe you own a PS3. If you love the 360 so much then get why did you buy the PS3 version of Red Dead then? Why not a buy a 360 and just buy Red Dead for it? Anyways, I'm gonna speak from my true experience only and from what I can see, the stories about the PS3 version being blurry is total b*llsh*t. There is no blurriness, it's nothing like that at all. If anything, on my TV at least, it's clear and sharp. The textures and details are just fine and good enough. I saw nothing wrong with the PS3 version and I certainly do not trust those doctored screenshot comparisons or those silly nerdy nobodies on NeoGaf who think they can offically count pixels and decide what is true HD or not. I'm sorry, I dont believe these PS3 Red Dead-hating stories. The only facts I know is that the game looks good and my point was to share my experience and show everyone else that these stories about the PS3 version being very visually poor, blurry or sub-HD are just not true. I dont even care to see the 360 version to compare it. I've seen the PS3 version and I have it and it says 720p on the back of the box. I'm very satisfied and happy with how Red Dead looks on the PS3, end of.

The multi-platform games that I own or really matter to me look good on the PS3 as they do on the 360 or even better, and thats GTA 4 and the Episodes, COD4 and Modern Warfare 2. My most prized games on my PS3 are Uncharted 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2 and Heavy Rain - games on the PS3 that the 360 will NEVER match visually or technically. These PS3 exclusives are the games this gen of gaming that have really wowed me. I'm not stupid either - I'm just not interested or impressed by the 360 thats all. These are my facts and you can acknowledge them or not, I could'nt give a flyin' f**k!

I've got it on PS3 and only on PS3 and haven't played the Xbox version or seen it except in screen and direct feed comparisons.

But I will say this:

The framerate issues on the PS3 are the biggest annoyance to me. I'll go to the saloon at aramadillo and the frame rate goes to the dogs for like 3-4 seconds.

I don't think the game looks bad by any stretch on PS3- its better than GTAIV and I maintain that, for a sandbox, that still has some of the bst graphics around, but for the love of god- if the game took 5 years to develop at least make it HD with a stable frame rate on PS3. We know its possible, the excuse is just laziness...

Didnt ms have lots of meetings with devs when 360 was in development to ask what tools would make it easy to work with instead of inventing a whole new code language and expecting them to learn it fast .

na duh he prefers the 360. if he prefeers a superior game console without the hassle of instaling games just to play them and an amazing multiplayer experince then he would prefer a xbox. (note: the red dead mp is suckn on 360 right now. rockstars servers are sucking)

Lazlow (Rockstar Developer) only prefers Xbox 360 because of it's online community.. Not because it's superior in anyway.

Just for the record though, It isn't superior. lol
