Dead Space 2 visuals compare to Uncharted 2 - Visceral

Visceral expects Dead Space 2's visuals "to stack up very favourably" with Uncharted 2's.

The game's executive producer, Steve Papoutsis, told Edge that players are "going to be blown away" by the production values on show in the survival horror sequel.

While it still looks amazing; by the time Dead Space 2 is released, what's the chances of there being something which looks even better out there on the market?

No doubt there's a PS3 exclusive coming out which will raise the bar yet again, much like Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 and God of War III have etc.

Stop already. This is what brings down anticipation and some remorse once the game is released and it doesn't live up to over the top hype. How many times I have seen X game will eclipse </insert what is considered graphics king here> and actually have it come true?

Dead Space 1 did look amazing though on PC..even with edge AA only there wasn't a jagged edge to be seen. It also ran incredibly well for it's visuals, so if it is the same it won't be so bad

Articles like this tell the story of PS3 setting standards. How many articles have we seen of other games wanting/ trying to compare to either killzone 2 or Uncharted 2? Sometimes even God of War 3. And these are DEVELOPERS doing it, not the fans like usual. That speaks volumes

Even if they are close, why would you shoot yourself in the foot like this. Chances are they are not as good, and when the game comes out it will now be compared and lose that comparison to UC2 in terms of graphics.

last i checked. dice tried to say that their vista's beat out Uncharted 2's BG... LOL!!! i guess. it's good to know U2 is still being likened as the Console standards to beat. Naughty Dog and the PS3 are a match made in heaven. Sony must be happy to see 3rd party devs compare their games to their 1st party offerings..

Looks like developers are comparing their games to games like Uncharted 2 to get it hyped. Uncharted is from a first party developer that knows how the cell works better then any third party developer ever will so I doubt it. What I do know is that its going to look better then the first Dead Space and entertain just as well. This is on my game pickup list for next year.

lets face it. Uncharted 2's graphical fidelity is only possible on the PS3 and the PC. just bringing this game to the 360 will gimp that type of quality. they shouldn't shoot themselves in the foot like this.

stop putting consoles in a class with the pc.
its annoying. ps3 and pc are two very different entities. ps3 the lesser. UC2 is only a benchmark on the ps3 platform. Dont talk to us about graphical fidelity because that is only possible on PC, bringing OUR games to ps3 would only gimp that type of quality.

so let me write this again, since you guys dont know how to read.

U2 isnt possible on the 360, it can only be done on the PS3 and PC. PS3 because it was built on the Platform and it is 10x more powerful than the 360. PC because it is the most powerful of them all.

that is why if Visceral wants a game that can match uncharted 2, then why gimp it by putting it on the 360? to get those U2 visuals you would either have to put it on the PS3 or the PC.

it's being released over a year after U2, i should hope it'd stack up in SOME way. then again, it's been over 6 months since U2 and i still don't think it's been topped on console. god of war 3 looked better at its best moments, that's for sure, but uncharted 2 was much more consistent.

You are totally right about that, yet I remember back in 2007 (the doom and gloom days for the PS3) when one Ubi devel said SC:Conviction wasnt possible on the PS3. LOL.

Ontopic: No need to bash the DS2 devel. I see as a very positive sign they are upping their game, and aiming for the stars. Better graphics benefits greatly the immersion in this kind of game.

Now Uncharted 2 is the top dog in visuals, and saying that Dead Space 2 can be compared to it is a huge compliment althought it comes from the developer but still i like the attitude. So what they are saying is that Dead Space 2 animations, visuals and story telling will be top notch. Dead Spac 2 is shaping up to be a heavy blockbuster, kudos to EA for taking the risk with the Dead Space 1 new IP approach and Visceral commitment to excellence is notable. I cant wait!!
