@radzy Two brief checkpoints in an alpha build. Unacceptable. If it was on 360 you'd be switching out discs at those checkpoints with all of the detail in the environments.
I did see 3 checkpoints in a 20 second period, and the game stops completely at each one. Looked more like load times, than checkpoints to me, but that's to be expected with those gorgeous textures, and high poly models. Hopefully they can streamline this process. If not, this will be one average shooter. (shoot Mobs, move, load/checkpoint, repeat)

Why? Gears of War HAD at most 4 enemies on screen. KILLZONE 2 is what a real battle is like. Explosions, people dying all around you. TONS AND TONS and TONS of enemies on screen at ONCE. WOW...The first game I saw with SO MANY CLOSE UP COMBAT. I fear for myself when I get to PLAY this GAME IN HIGH DEF 7:1 Surround Sound on my BOSE Lifestyle Home System. JUST PLAIN WOW!!!!
LOL! I think I only saw 4 or less at all times on screen. Either way it looks good. Too bad it sucks I can't afford the PS3 yet. Mortgage and such. But the good news is that this game comes out next year so maybe by then there will be enough cash to pick one up.

oh, right, Gears of War! The only thing, GOW, the enemy seems to be a little harder to kill, these guys go down with only a few bullets. I would like to see someone run through killzone without shooting, I bet he would have half his life still after running through the whole map.

some helgast in the building just ran out and made like close combat shootout against the player. I've seen this behaviour before from the AI of a shooter. I don't know about you all but I think that could be reworked a little. Good feel of the wholeness but it has some lags now. I bet there is some more optimizations to be done before going gold.

This game is looking better and better everytime i read news and watch in game footage...it's gonna rock our high def tv's and will amaze us all when the final product is complete...the lighting is fantastic. It's all i ever wanted... real damage the physics...oh so awsome the sound effects are awsome too..the guns are fabulous...

it does indeed look very good. the textures are the only let down. Is like they use low textures but lots of effects. But the end result is really good.
give it time, its already the best looking console shooter ever and it still has months of dev time left.

The only thing that will make me not like this game is if its short. I hate it when a good game is short. For example gears of war excellent game but was too short for me and the first killzone was a decent game but was short aswell.

Gears of War was very short. I only played for maybe 15 minutes but watched people play in the dorm and they beat the game in like half a day. Hopeully Killzone 2 will be jam packed with plot and twist and turns and betrails and losses and unexpected gains and a f'ing crazy ending! that would be awesome! But from my point of view, killzone 1's online experiance is what kept me playing it for so long. It was a nice break from playing socom. I rank it's online play 2nd to Socom 2 fromt the PS2 games I've played onine

maybe you missed what the guy said, or you missed the video. he said it uses a "first person cover" system. Vegas is a great game, and sports by far the best cover system I have used to date, but the thing is it kicks you into third person. killzone keeps you in first person, so your not able to see the whole room from behind cover :) I recommend watching the video. @ below: I guess its just your recolection of vegas. in vegas when you take cover your thrown into third person, thus you can see the whole room while in cover, you can blind fire and line up your shot all in cover. you are kicked over the shoulder while peeking, giving you a nice wide field of vision.(or first person if you have a scope). where as killzone your never kicked into third person. so its not when you peak that your FoV is limited, but only while taking cover and not peaking out a side or over the top. I feel while playing RB6:V online I often find myself nading the highly camped cover areas, because you cannot see them but they get a great view of the room (and you coming up). so for killzone's cover, this adds a layer of tension and realism in my book . I respect your tastes though. But it bodes well for the fluidity of the cover system they have implemented thus far that you could barely tell the difference between this one and RB6:V. quite the compliment, as once again I will say Vegas is my favorite cover system to date.
I wouldn't of commented if I hadn't.. I see the brief spot the cover system is shown. When I hold left trigger and peak out from behind cover in Vegas I guess I remembered it being similar to that. Will have to try it, but if it limits your sight then I would say lame.
Textures look really bad close up especially when he's using cover. I hope they sort that out.
Another video shows a razor wire fence and it looked like ps2 textures. I am hoping that these will be upgraded for the final. They have lots of time to optimize and take care of these. I would still get it even in its current state.
Yes this also seen in Heavenly Sword and has me wondering whats really going on with these PS3 games! Totally not impressed and I hope this game improves before people try and say it's the best looking FPS ever!

I can say that the game looks incredible,but when you shoot the bullets are like paintball (too slow),the enemy AI looks kind retarded. Well I think that the game is perfect just to follow a story or something, but i dont see how can you play it in multiplayer or improve your skill with that slowness.

well this goes back to the "4D" idea that ken katuragi was talking about, what happens if you add two different things that do cg/movie graphics together, eventually this game machine called ps3 will have 4d graphics, weather you believe in it being time or the next level in graphics rendering, it will come by ps3. now the idiots that really believe that there are actually things that surpassed the ps3, i am sorry to tell them that there are some factors that they have seriously forgotten, they base the power of ps3, and the performance off of the things written on paper, but the sad thing is is they dont know about some things on paper about ps3s specs that alone will still change gaming forever, pc fans, fake tech specialist, and other would be tech sites they forget one huge thing about the ps3, and its secrets, and its very serious, you see in the supercomputer world, they deal with floating point operations, people stand to really truly believe that floating point numbers mean nothing with graphics, your right though, they have nothing to do with gaming graphics, but for movie graphics, for sonys movie company, they use supercomputers, in the e3 2005 game conference, the cell was annouced, the performance was annouced as 2.18 tflops, and that the supercomputers at their movie studios move at just what 16 tflops, if you think thats bad, this is worse, sony uses the same cells to make their movies, now the only thing is, is that people know this, but they believe that the ps3 will not perform as good as the full supercomputers, but that is a horrible error, you see, supercomputers are the same no matter what power, but the thing is that because there is only one cell in the ps3, the workforce will have to be higher, and the budget will have to be enlarged more aswell, and time will be increased from an already giant number, and this is why we that know about the ps3 say that it has no end, movies are always looking better and better, because supercomputers have no end, as killzone with a workforce of only 120, and only been working on it for less than 2 years on the new ps3 hardware, all time that you say that is 3 years, were nothing more than preperations for the making of the game, not making the game on the ps3 hardware, because ps3 wasnt even in any form of a system back at e3 2005, the first actual build of a ps3 platform with incomplete hardware wasnt around til early 2006, so the game was being made from that point, and for making cg, on one cell at not half the fire power and horsepower to speed along development of cg, this game killzone looks fanominal, and is the best looking game ever period, the game is in movie ranks, you can say crysis, and call of duty, or glitches of ware look better than it all you want, but the thing is, until people see those games and are impressed on the scale of killzone, and are thinking is this ingame? Take the less detail on the textures to be able to play the game and have 15+ enemies on the screen aswell as my own squad fire and explosions everywhere and killer lighting.
i like the feeling of being in a war with lots of things going on at once.

I would if I had any idea how to do it. I won't compare these games though as their nothing alike. Halo is like almost cartoony and this is like realistic in a videogame way (gears of war look) where it looks good but their not going for real life modeling. Well besides the faces.
Kill Zone 2= Acceptable Graphics + Great effects / Halo3 = Enought Graphics + Perfect Gameplay + The Best Multiplayer of all and a lot of fun!!!!!!!! Just watch and learn boy
compare Killzone to HALO? It's so retarded. Compare it to Gears of War if anything, it looks just like GOW. It has the same grayish brown graphics and they both use a cover system. I just don't see why people compare it to HALO. The only thing it has in common with HALO is that it's a FPS, that's it, there are thousands of FPS. I guess since HALO is such an awesome game and nothing comes close to it, Fony F4gboys try to bring it down but it only gets more people hearing about it and checking out all the videos and in the end going to help sell it, so keep it up Fony F4gboys.
I reread reviews for the original game and I am lowering my expectations for this game. I will let the game define itself when it releases than the hype. I would rather get all hyped for something thats coming soon like Lair. MGS4 though is a different story.
I had low expectations about Killzone for the PSP but it turned out to be one of the best, if not the best PSP games. So I have a little more faith in the franchise, but yeah I'm still going to keep my expectations low so the game can impress me even more
The graphics are nothing specail theres no colour and textures look like crap up close. I havent seen one thing in this game that hasnt been done before. I know its only in alfa but this game has been in development the same time as for e.g. gears of war. Call of duty 4 is also in alpha and thats looks stunning. IMHO this game is nothing speacail from what iv seen so far and i think it will be out shined by other first person shooters on the PS3.(might be wrong) Even black site area 51 and haze looks better than this at the moment. I really hope the final version delivers, i need a reason to keep my ps3.

There is nothing stellar about this so far and it will be interesting to see actual gameplay side by side of this game Halo 3, and Cod4! Something is telling me that this game might not live up to the hype but will be a great game by a great team of developers!

Such an increadible game is let down by the lack of RAM available for textures!!! A $25 price increase for another 256MB of RAM (estimating) would have made a world of difference.

I thought i was the only one who thinks that the textures in this game looks like crap. Hopefully it will be alot better when the game is done, if they can get close to gears of war quality then that would be good, but i doubt it though.

The fire needs work too...just like Lair, the early builds had some pretty awful fire effects... but please stop with this coming anywhere near gears...This game already has 3 times as much going on onscreen...The draw distance, reported real time weather changing effects...and hit detection...already make Gears look old...There are muddy textures yes...but the textures are already on par with Resistance...throw in the fact that KZ2 has physics incorporated even into the blood (in which pools will run downhill)... and this isn't a Sony sided argument...COD4 already looks more impressive to me than Gears of War also... Gear is beatable people...and it won't even be KZ2 that does it...UT3 will be out in just a few months...and the developers (I know its not the Gear fanboys that said it...so maybe this is completely false...Epic really doesn't know crap about how well UT3 will look compared to Gears of war...) claim it to already have surpassed Gears...
Yes, I understand their are two memory pools. XDR memory for the CELL and video memory for the RSX. Let me rephrase, would it have killed Sony to include more video memory for the RSX to allow for more textures? Just because their are two memory pools doesn't mean you cannot have MORE memory!!!!
The RSX can use some of the XDR main ram also...the Cell can only use the 256megs of server class XDR though...that results in a all kinds of people saying the 360 has "more" RAM...which is totally false...the 360 can simply allocate the 512MB of total RAM to either the GPU or CPU (but obviously not all of it to one or the other)... but anyway...XDR is not cheap RAM...it would not be just $25 to add another 256meg chunk of it...however, had we not got a Blu Ray drive, that is exactly what we would have got I bet... imo this i the biggest thing in the PS3 that goes against its future proof sales pitch...512MB of RAM is definitely a bottle-neck...had the PS3 had a gig or something, there would be no question that games would look better and better for years to come...which is probably still the case, but more wouldn't have hurt anything but the price...
