Why are they telling us about this now...before E3....Hmmmm....could M$ have pulled the plug on COD 7 showing at E3...are they trying to capitalize on some hype from signing Bungie....I don't know, something NOT right....

I doubt it has ANYTHING to do with MS. It probably has something to do with that little dust up with Infinity Ward...like letting investors know that the COD franchise is still alive and kicking.

Honestly I don't think that's a valid complaint. Seriously, how many time has damn near every war been used in a game? About the only one not completely overdone is WWI and trench warfare doesn't seem very exciting unless there's some sort of minigame to prevent trench foot. Vietnam has been done a lot, but not near as much as WWII or misc current conflicts. About the only big name I can think of off the top of my head was Battlefield Vietnam and as cool as it was, the EoD mod for BF 1942 was a lot better. So while Nam has been done a lot, I have yet to see it done WELL.

With all of that said, I still don't think I am going to expect much from a CoD title. WaW was pretty good and certainly better than MW2, but I'm sure Activision is going to be pulling a lot of strings to get this made cheap so they can increase their profits since ol' Bobby doesn't look like a guy who can learn from mistakes so I doubt I give this much thought.

If this game doesn't have a new engine or at least a very improved version if will be mediocore visually.

The gameplay will remain the game and be decent.

The story will be overly American orientated and no doubt no be good or pay respect to the millions who lost their lives in the conflict.

I'm looking forward to it. I was pleasantly surprised by World at War. Anyone who's played and enjoyed IW's glory days with CoD1-2 should see WaW as a blast from the past with style.

Treyarch may be treated like 3rd rate developers from Activision, but WaW convinced me they might have something enticing for Black Ops. (That and I'm starved for a good Vietnam game)

Seriously, i think modern warfare 2 should have been the last of the cod series. Once you surpass more than 5 games in a series, it is time to close the door and get some originality back into the studio. Make a new game, it can even be a military shooter.

Publishers need to learn when to let a series go. You can create a new fanbase with a new series. The only reason I see for developers not to do this, is knowing that you do not have the talent to do it.
