Geforce GTX 480/470 with unmatched image quality in modern games

Apparently Nvidia's Geforce GTX 480 and 470 are able to deliver full screen supersampling anti-aliasing under DirectX 10 and DirectX 11. This extreme image quality enhancement has been available with AMD's Radeon HD 5000 series.

PC Games Hardware has made a summary with an explanation how to activate SGSSAA under DX11. They also have several picture comparisons that show the effect of the feature.

Almost ready to upgrade my 8800gtx sli for the 480gtx. I think im going to give it a few more months though to see what else is coming from ATI or Nvidia, and wait fr price drops.

Cueil3104d ago

let's wait for that 90 deg temp to drop by around 30 percent

iamgoatman3104d ago

I wouldn't hold my breath for a price drop anytime soon, this is Nvidia after all.

I was going to wait a few months as well in the hope that we'd see a price drop in ATI's 5000 series, but seeing as that probably won't happen until later this year, I'm going to get one sooner rather than later.

But you never know, you could get lucky.

Chris_TC3104d ago

Why would I care about the temp? I don't tend to touch my graphics card while its running.

Jager3104d ago

You'd care about the temp because the Graphics card can over heat and fry. That wont happen at 90 degrees (Unless this is C instead of F), but if something, like GPU fan breaking, or Dust blocking vents, then your card will Fry. Fast.

ASUS G73! so worth it :) most powerful laptop on the market!

xTruthx3104d ago (Edited 3104d ago )

Only in ram lol, because with alienware you have an option to upgrade to Dual 1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 4870 in CrossfireX, with the asus laptop you cant. I don't see anything using 16 GB's of ram tho, 8GB of ram is more than enough

OpenGL3104d ago (Edited 3104d ago )

Where did you get the other $1000? The G73 line has some pretty awesome gaming laptops. The cheapest model I've seen is available at Best Buy for $1200. Sure the Mobility Radeon 5870 is only half as fast as a real 5870, but for a laptop it is still pretty amazing.

Raypture3104d ago

@Truth

Indeed, 4GB is fine for most people even gaming, 8GB is a large amount, you may need it if you do a lot of video encoding, but 16GB is a bit overkill in my book, personally I'd wait till 4GB sticks of RAM got cheaper to go to 16GB since most mobos won't have enough slots to support 16GB with 8x2GB sticks

FantasyStar3104d ago

Damn, TSSAA is really noticeable. I wish there was some full-screencaps to really take in the picture.

wicko3104d ago

I was under the impression that this has been around for a while, at least with ATI cards. I think it was called Adaptive AA. Worked really well, especially with foliage and chainlink fences.

sid4gamerfreak3104d ago

damn i just bought a ati 5870. ANyway still performs like a beast

Cueil3104d ago

there was the 5890... but your card is a beast and will be viable even 3 years from now
