NG: In an interview exclusive to NowGamer and sister publication gamesTM, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser has confessed that development of Red Dead Redemption has been a "complete nightmare" on a technical level...
I hope it pays off though, I can see myself putting many hours into this game this summer
I've read this several time now. However the game looks badass and if it turns out to be just GTA in the western times then fvck it I can't wait. I need me a good Western.
Likewise Can't wait, its one of the rare titles I don't have to think twice about buying day 1.
The latest multi-player vids, showing how you and friends can form your own posse and roam the world, look like a whole new level of gaming fun.
I am also very hyped for the free roam mp with support for Posses with up to 8 members. Me and my Mag clan will have some fun on this! Roaming the plains looking for showdowns!!! See you all online if you are getting the ps3 version. Edit: Although there might be some truth to his comment, there is already someone in the open zone dissing DVD9 and blaming the problems on it. Why can't we all just be friends and enjoy gaming together!?
"complete nightmare" because of DVD9? ;-)
yeah i'm intrested a little ..if the comments from players are good i'll try it . it's true that they have to implement a lot of thing right for thsi game to be a success
I have to thank them for sticking to it. I don't prefer open world to linear or vice versa, but since a good open world experience seems to be limited to Assassin's Creed and GTA I'm glad to see something new and interesting in an open world environment.
u need to try iinFamous out then. really fun open world game.
This game has gone from just being on the list of another game to get... GOTY Cotendar. All I would really like to say to rockstar is; The most satisfying victory comes from the hardest fight. I Thank God there are Dev's like R* still ready to take risks and invest in tech while keeping their creative imagination active.. They could have just Licensed some crappy engine... They could have just thrown us an FPS, and then throw us... more FPS games, like a lot of other dev's seem to be doing. We got something different and hopefully something really special.
I wait 4 this beast?
The way R* does business is exactly why they belong with Sony. I say this only because eveyrone talks about Sony buying Take2. R* puts in alot of effort in their games. I will be buying this 100%.
Looks fantastic, can't help but love games based in the Wild Wild West.
+1. The Western genre is severely under served by gaming. I'm psyched to see something of this quality coming out for it.
I played GUN on my old PS2 and that game was brilliant and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. GUN was kinda of similar to Red Dead, it was kind of open-world with main missions and side activities and the gameplay was explosive, hard action. We definitely need more games of this variety. I'm looking very forward to Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar are once again getting in my good books. I'm about to buy the PS3 versions of Episodes from Liberty City and next month Red Dead, looking good.
What Mr Houser really means. Having to constantly compromise our vision to fit on the lowest common denominator ie DVD9 has been a bloody nightmare.
Judging by the trailers RDR could be the most impressive game ever made. Hopefully it pays off and it sells 10 million or more, Rockstar deserves it for realizing a game like this.
Sounds like the train level in Uncharted 2. Once you complete it tho the results pay off.
RDR is really my most wanted game in Q2. I feel R* has really put everything into this. Lets hope it lives up to the hype.
and a Dream to play!!
can not wait any longer for this game it looks so amazing. hopefully it dose not end up like gta 4.
I agree, there were some great things in GTA4, but overall the game was boring.
My next buy game, providing the MP is really as good as the vid and you wont get kiddies frigging up the online play. Game has a ton of MP potential... sad thing is I have to start riding a mule at the beginning.
You might as well hang up the idea of having multiplayer without kids frigging it up. They are a horrible blight upon the gaming world from which there is no escape.
The whole western thing MAY NOT appeal to today's 13-year olds, so there's hope.
^ yea with a open MP free roam...there is potential for kidz to mess up your gameplay... I am playing BC2 and its getting bad from the perspective so many are just concerned with their K/D ratio vs doing team objectives.
Mute'em & shoot'em!
May FTW Red Dead Redemption and Alan Wake :)
Amen to that.
^ AW and RDR on the same day... AW is a buy game for me, but not until I play RDR for about a month and get a leg up on the MP...
Heard that SE? Edit: I know that FFXIII gave them alot of work but also they had alot of time.
...does a game with such ambitious goals actually deliver. But R* is showing us videos every step of the way!!! It looks like they are going to pull this off. Usually previews begin with lofty goals, but they did it backwards to ensure promises weren't broken. The end product almost gives me a nose bleed just thinking about how complex it is and I haven't played it yet, let alone programmed/developed it. Incredible. If even some of the elements of this make it into the final version (and I'm sure they all will because it's practically finished) this will blow the doors off of GTA IV. I bet it was a complete nightmare, I bet you all lost a lot of sleep, drank alot of beer and did a good bit of illicit activities/substances to get through it all - so you guys deserve all of the success that will follow such an amazing and ambitious project. Congrats.
Really looking forward to this one...... However not seeing any PS3 footage is slightly worrying.
Same thing happened with GTA4, but both versions were fine in the end.
Open world games always seem to suffer more on the PS3. I hope your right about it, don't care if its marginal ( Resolution) but a massive performance difference would be off putting.
I can't imagine, this game looks incredible! They put a lot of heart into this game. It might just set new standards for the open world genre.
I am looking forward to this game. The horses have muscle physics when they move almost as good as Kratos in GOW III which is great to see. This is my most wanted multiplatform game this year.
I hope this game is really awesome. It sounds like it's going to be.
