Review: Ankh: Heart of Osiris 7/10

Point and click adventures have always been the best way to get humour into the life of a gamer. Think of Sam & Max, Monkey Island or the hilarious but ever so disturbing Leisure Suit Larry; each has the potential to keep reducing you to tears of laughter, but then there were those time when you just could not work out how to make a voodoo doll of an evil governor... even after six weeks of trying, and the purchase of a really rather poor game guide. Neroli's Game Review - Ankh 2: Heart of Osiris

Ankh 2: Heart of Osiris, the adventure game sequel to Ankh: Reverse the Curse, has just been re-released by Legacy Interactive in downloadable format.

Reviewer Neroli writes, "Ankh 2: Heart of Osiris is a humorous point and click adventure that follows the adventures of Assil, an Ancient Egyptian teenager who can't seem to keep himself out of trouble. Seemingly heavily influenced by Monkey Island, it's an entertaining trip through Cairo, full of inventory puzzles that include finding uses for a hookah, a box of couscous, and a comb covered with wax paper."

Thankfully, Deck13 Interactive, a German developer, has appeared to fill the void left by LucasArts.

It is therefore a pleasure and a privilege to have the opportunity to interview Jan Klose, Creative Director at Deck13 Interactive, to get his take on the nature of the adventure genre and its future. Judging from his responses, it appears that Deck13 Interactive understands what fans want in an adventure game. The developer has learned what gamers really enjoy about LucasArts' games, and the company is truly a rising star well worth being taken seriously by the gaming community.
