The cinematics, lighting, mood and soundtrack look really groundbreaking here.

The graphics have obviously been dumbed down a lot since the last few trailers. I guess that's due to the fact they've cancelled the PC development.

I'm just hoping the actual gameplay itself will be up to Remedy's high standards.

BTW, the voice acting in Uncharted 2 were done by real actors/actresses. Not Naughty Dog lol.

It's just my observation here. I'm comparing what I saw in the trailer to some early screenshots and trailers.
And just to let you know, when developers "develop" games, they use PCs. So, for example, the character model of Alan Wake and some characters have looked better in early trailers such as having more polygons. Regardless of what you feel, this is my real opinion here.

I wouldn't say mind-blowing just yet (because we don't know whether those cutscenes are pre-rendered), but it definitely looks awesome.

Also this look super expensive, the guy mentions that they have licensed music and mixed it with specifically made music, and graphically this is easily the best looking 360 game (ME2 comes close though) I've ever seen (much much better than Splinter Cell or Halo. Fact).

Been waiting for this game for a long time, hope it delivers, it definitely looks like it's going to.

If what you're saying is true (about all the early builds and screenshots were from 360), then I was never aware of that. But regardless of whether or not it was on PC, I am very certain that the graphics have been dumbed down. But hell! Graphics don't make a game. Gameplay does.

The game looks like a good, taught thriller and I'm interested in that. I can't say it's a top-notch story, but it looks like one so far. The gameplay is what bothers me the most, though. I'm just not on board with the concept yet and some things bother me (no death from setting off a propane tank right next to you; only slight damage from getting hit by a large object; etc.). I'll be waiting for the reviews and will hopefully add another game to my 360 library when this releases.

Up until now Alan just reminded me of Silent Hill 2..which I was always a huge fan of.

But, I hadn't really seen what Remedy was agonizing over all these years..but WOW again..this trailer changed my mind entirely..

I loved the Heavy Rain QTE experience..but i'm a old school Resident Evil and Silent Hill Survival horror type guy..I love to actually play through the intense sections of games..and even though the character models arent the greatest seen in a video game..the Triple A quality of what Remedy is trying to pull off shines through

Alan Wake doesn't need to be like any other game just itself ! Right now from this footage the world of Wake leaves all other similar games in the dirt. This is just another reason to own a 360 and put an end to the myth of 360 being a lesser console. Some of those areas looked almost real and seem to have an immersion feeling unseen before in gaming. 2010 is the year of 360 folks so quit hating haters lol.

The trailers look good and give me an incentive to get the game. My concern at the moment is not the gameplay or story as i think it will be good. It weather they are going to try and charge me £40 for a 1/4 of the game.

However......it looks like a slow burning thriller. Like a good book or a slow paced movie which doesnt necessarily leap out the screen and blow your head off but pulls you in slowly. Lets hope this is true of alan wake.

Alan Wake WAS in fact dumbed down for the 360. Original footage was the PC version running on Intel Quad Core with 4GB of RAM.

I'm just stating fact. There's no way a game originally shown on a high-end dev PC will fit into an Xbox 360 with 1 less processor with way less cache and half the video memory and 1/8th the total system memory, looking as good as the devs originally had planned.

I can guarantee corners have been cut, and aspects of the game HAVE been changed.

I'm wondering if this will be the next Bioshock 1 in terms of storytelling and mood. I decided to pre-order this game in advance of the review and even got 25% off the game at Gamestop (I almost never buy anything there). Total after s&h + tax was $65 for the Limited/Collector's Edition.

I don't have an XBox yet but I read many of the XBox related news articles. I want to see what's happening as I'm waiting for a reason to buy an Xbox. It's not a cost issue, I've spent more than the cost of an elite in the past 6 weeks just on games, it's just that I have no reason to buy one yet.

So far no XBox exclusive game has compelled me to buy one. The few games that seemed interesting I bought for PC, and even those were not that amazing. i have played it. i own it. along with every other game i mentioned. and yes, it really is just a glorified qte. sure you get to walk around...which is the most frustrating mechanic i've experienced in a game and it's just WALKING. hardly the other element to a qte game i'd brag about.

and not only is it a qte game, most of the qte doesn't even matter. it's more of just something for your fingers to do while you watch this pretty boring, standard story unfold so the creator can say it's a video game and not a movie. cuz lets face it, if this were just a movie, it would have done poorly to the public. so what's the solution? put some button prompts on the screen and make it exclusive so a few million people (mostly people who won't actually ever buy it) will blindly give it way way way more credit than it deserves...kinda like you just did. and then to negate any honest opinions about the game that don't support that unwarranted praise, you have to add in the time tested "you never even played it" argument. man, the gaming community is getting sadder and sadder.

as for UC2...not sure why it took you so long to play through it. and as for that great co-op...it's not great. it's clearly tact on. it's just sections of the single player with wave after wave of guys as you run from point a to point b. yeah, it's fun once or twice...but it's nothing original, and it's nothing grand.

and if the multiplayer is so addictive, then why do so few ppl play it?

you're right though about UC2...i guess i shouldn't criticize the bang for the buck. if you like really linear, scripted, predictable games, then uncharted 2 certainly provides you with plenty of repetitive content to justify 60 dollars.

only concern I have is all the fighting we see is doomish, dark and flashlite type of gameplay. I dont think I have seen a wide open scene with the HUD displayed..

Wow some people need to get a grip. The game is looking very good, but mindblowing? Really? No. I don't appreciate hyperbole. Graphically this still looks worse than Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2 in my opinion, and none of those even touch Crysis 2. GOTY shouts? I thought that was Mass Effect 2's crown? This is looking pretty good graphically. I'm glad something is FINALLY pushing the envelope on the 360. However, after looking at the 'trailer' i'm less convinced that this is going to be a great mind blowing game.

Something about the way it came off as an infomercial killed the vibe for me. I mean...if its truly a great mind-blowing experience, why bore us with the voice over that feels like your trying desperately to convince us that this game is the sh*t?? it's a game..great games stand on their own...they don't need you to do a monologue about how great they are, they shine fine on their own.

For instance...i'm not the biggest x-box supporter. In fact, I really hate what microsoft in general has done to the industry with shoddy hardware, blatant lies etc. But i wholeheartedly admit that Gears of War 2 is an insanely fun game. Gears stands on its own despite the hate it gets because at the end of the day, it's a good game. Microsoft didn't feel the need to infomercial us with Halo, Gears or Mass Effect, why now? It almost seems like they're trying to convince us to buy the game before it gets out that it's not all that they've advertised it to be.

I honestly hope my hunch is wrong cause 360 needs a good game like Alan Wake to bolster its ranks of exclusive games. The competition between 360 n PS3 is healthy for the industry and I would love to see more games like this come out on 360 so the competition can continue.

Wow. I've posted negative comments on this game before, and have been crucified for my words, but this game looks pretty good.

For me, my expectations were real high, when I saw the first screens ever released for this game, it was damned beautiful. Now, after that video, I can see that they HAVE dumbed down the visuals (although a nice lens flare or motion blur effect improves the look) it will not compete VISUALLY with Uncharted, Crysys, Killzone and the such.

I personally am very fond of Remedy, they know what their doing. But let's not beat around the bush here, the game DOES NOT look as good as one could of hoped, or else everything on this board would be overwhelmingly positive.

But that's also because we (or at least I) was not expecting light and dark to play such a role in the game, nor the main character to have a striking resemblance to the guy in Alone in the Dark, or the fact that this game was a suspense game. I figured it to be survival horror.

But, with those references, Twin Peaks, Stephen King and Lost, you cannot go wrong.

Was the narrative. It gave a lot of info on the game, most of it I didn't know to be honest.

The gameplay looks very very promising as does the plot and entire story.

The only thing I am left wondering is whether or not they can get close to the quality of the story, characters, voice acting and overall quality shown in Uncharted 2. If it even gets close it'll be an awesome game and I for one certainly plan on finding out how it does when it's released because this trailer has convinced me to give the game a shot.

This game looks like a must-buy for the 360 and an tempting game for people who never cared for the 360 (and also its Halo and Gears of War franchise). Now that said, it should be one of the best "horror-esque" titles (I said "horror-esque" because Remedy never considered as a fully horror game) to appear this console generation.

The graphics in the outdoor shots look fantastic, but I was kinda disappointed with the indoor shots; the same inconsistent problem that plagued Heavy Rain. Lip synching was kinda hit and miss, and some of the acting (due to lip synching issues) just doesn't flow with the action. Again, a similar problem that plagued Heavy Rain.

Then again, as long as the controls are tight and the gameplay is good, then this game should make 360 owners happy.

Looks amazing, I'm very interested in it as I've been waiting for a long story driven SP game for my 360...I still don't think it looks better than PS3's best but it does look dam good! I preferr my ps3 however that doesn't mean I don't like the xbox. Sadly my first 360 rrod'ed on me, weird considering i didn't play it alot, but i bought my friends elite from him.
