Splinter Cell team "didn't have time" to implement carrying dead bodies

Yeah it's kind of weird that the game has been in development for this long and they claim they "didn't have time". Doesn't really matter to me though. I manly moved bodies in previous Splinter Cell's because I was trying to remain undetected and more stealthy, but because of the fast nature of this game I doubt I would be moving too many bodies anyway.

^That is the first thought that came to mind when I saw the title. Didn't they scrap the original game to start fresh and then delay it to put the finishing touches on it? I don't see how they can now claim they didn't have "time" to polish the game and add what they felt the game needed.

I was left with mixed feelings after playing the demo. I am definitely going to play the game but I'm not positive if it will be rented or I will walk into the door the day it's released to pick it up. I am waiting on reviews (not the grade/number but the content) before I make my final decision.

I remember seeing the old version of Splinter Cell - Hobo Sam walking around picking objects up. There was a definite focus of hand-to-hand combat, and blending with the environment.

But this one turned out better. If anything, it looks a little worse from those old demos...

Moving and hiding bodies has been a staple (and necessity) of Splinter Cell stealth since the first game. In fact, the initial training level in the first Splinter Cell requires you hide the body of an agent you subdue during the exercise administered and narrated by Lambert.

I think this greatly clarifies the focus of the "new gameplay style".

If you can't hide bodies, then the stealth mechanic has changed to "hide and seek"; because I know the enemy will be at least... curious as to why their ally has a hole in his head and choking on his own blood when they happen to come across that type of thing.

Perhaps the gameplay is somewhat linear to the degree that enemies will not stumble across bodies in the course of gameplay as well. Not totally linear, mind you; but just enough in parts so the stealth, like the devs said, "it wasn't something needed to be done".

See that BS Uncharted 2 got away with this & I told people U2 was garbage & had nothing to do with stealth. Now UBI wants to get away with this, I'm pissed!

However, I'll still purchase 2 copies day 1 for the co-op play with my son, that was fantastic in Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory.

Also, I dont want my hand being held through the game, with icons popping up all over the place telling me what I can grab onto.

Carrying bodies in integral to the gameplay, now you have to take them as a human shield if you want to move them, how much harder could it be the add a carry animation?

Thats pretty weak in my book. Imagine a shooter where they didnt have time to model guns.

I guess the new action orientated playstyle doesnt call for it as much, but it still feels like a silly ommission.

If you want to move bodies now you have to human shield them. So basically you have to decide first, this is a victim I want to move, now I have this dead body, I better move it.

It just seems so strange to leave it out, unless its more a design choice, they want you to be a bit more fast paced.

The execute function is heaps of fun, I think this is going to be the most action Splinter Cell, with more guys at once for you to execute. Its definately a difference play experience to the early games.

I'm still very hopeful but, I love the demo, I keep playing it different everytime, which is why I like the series to begin with.

Judging from the Demo, it looks like it`ll be more linear. So you won`t be passing areas you`ve already been through, so their would be less of a need to hide bodies. Never the less, it still sucks and could have been easily implemented.

In stealth games you have to move the bodies you kill or stun so the patrols don't see them and sound the alarm. So to not be able to move a body laying on the ground just makes it easier to get caught... right?

Pennywise...we all know this game is not a traditional stealth game and that it is more of a hybrid with a 3rd person action game. Any gameplay video can tell you that. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on the stealth trolling but be advised from someone who has played the demo (multiple times) that I don't think moving bodies will be a huge issue with the way the game seems to play.

Pennywise...you can still play it as a stealth game (as far as I have seen). I have been through the demo a few different times where I remained undetected. It would have been nice to be able to move bodies but I really don't feel like it will be a huge issue based on how it plays. That wasn't a muscle suit that let him crawl through the microwave tunnel and the suit was shot to hell by the time he fought Ocelot. The nanomachines were not functioning to add strength of quell pain as Snake was intentionally disconnected from the Soldier Support System.

They made a mistake on not including the body hide mechanic and no amount of explaining will make it go away. As of late Ubisoft has shown a mastery of destroying their own franchises

Totally dissagree with your assessment in regards to Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six. GRAW2 was awesome and was far better than Socom: Confrontation(even though I'm a Socom fan) and RSV 1+2 were amazing, especially with the cover system and the 4 player terrorist hunt and the campaign co-op.

I also thought RB6V 1 and 2 were both amazing games. I did not like the new direction with Prince of Persia, and I am glad to see they are going back to the PoP roots with Forgotten Sands.

With regards to GRAW 2, I must say that while I enjoyed the game overall, I thought the team AI could have used some extra work. They were basically useless. I cannot count the times I ordered a teammate to take a shot, and they would just sit there and tell me "I don't have a shot, I need to move". Just to prove a point, I made the shot myself from their location.

The more they make excuses for this game, the more credibility it loses (first the weak demo, then revealed its not running in true HD but sub-HD)...I just hope the bodies don't "disappear" like most games. It seems that these days every game is now rushed. And most of the time they need a few more months or years of more development time to iron out all the details and bugs out and to add more polish.
Publishers are so greedy and pushy, that they don't care. And they will release the game anyways. I think we all agree that Gears 2, MW2, Mercenaries 2, could've used a lot more time to iron out all those game killing bugs and glitches.
Game publishers think that developers can create a game in a year or 2 and sometimes it takes 2 to 4 years. Programming is a hard gig and it takes a lot of time. Publishers just see the business side, not the creative/development side. Activision is notorious for this.

As for Splinter Cell, I played the demo. The game was average to ok at best. I don't think I would even rent it.
