The enhancements to the cute factor have benefited significantly from the updated graphics. Alongside the updated sprites and 3D environment, your lead Pokémon now follows behind you, and you can turn and talk to them at any time. The player can then talk to them, and they do a variety of cute things, along with letting you know how they feel. While in previous games in the series it was easy to forget about your Pokémon's health and leave them in a critical state (gradually making them more and more unhappy), you are now constantly reminded of at least one of your team's status, giving you incentive to take better care of your team.

With each new generation of Pokémon, the overall number of Pokémon in the National Dex has climbed far beyond the original 151. Obviously, Pokémon has been spread over multiple generations of hardware, and this has further made it more difficult to "catch 'em all". On the Game Boy Advance, Game Freak began a method of alleviating this somewhat with remakes of the first generation games, giving gamers a more streamlined method of collecting the original Pokémon. This was continued on the DS with remakes of the second generation of games, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Because if you play it like I do and are constantly adding newly caught Pokemon to your lineup it takes an eternity? Thank goodness for EXP share in the later games haha

Sometimes it's the simple things in life that make the greatest difference. Consider the minigame: a bite-sized experience nestled within a larger video game. We all know some terrible examples - ones that force you to complete arbitrary nonsense so mind-bogglingly boring, you'd rather watch your theoretical future son be left at the theoretical future altar by his theoretical future spouse then finish one more hacking puzzle.
