Darksiders gets PC version for summer

VG247: THQ's announced it's bringing Darksiders to PC this coming June.

Wow, now I regret renting this on my PS3... its a great game, PC gamers should definitely checkout, support this developer, they are bringing us a Warhammer 40K MMO (revealed at E3 this year)!!!

Sweet. Other than LIVE arcade/PSN titles I have moved on to PC gaming only again. So it looks like I might play this game after all! (running native @ 1080p!)

Yeah, I played Darksiders on the PS3 and thought it was great, but I'm buying it for the PC. The console version's frame rate was a bit too low and the graphics a tad murky for my liking, so I'm hoping my PC will be powerful enough to max out the graphics.

That is primarily the reason why they don't release it at the same time as the consoles. They don't want you buying the PC version so they don't give you the opportunity. It makes much more business sense to have you buy it on the consoles and then make you re-buy it for the PC.

It's rather clear that many would just pirate it on pc , given it's genre (hack and slash/zelda clone) and lack of multiplayer .

Just remember the excellent version of dmc4 on pc (and dmc 3 ), among other things .

And it would have been worse if released alongside console versions , with some PC/consoles simply getting the free candy

Charmers, can't necessarily depend on the 'double dip'. Would I now that I have the PS3 version? No. I'm sure DMC4 was a good PC port. How many people bought versus pirated?

10-12 hours, if I remember correctly. Maybe a bit longer.

I'd say grab it on sale. It was fun while it lasted, but it didn't exactly wow me at any point.

PC people, get this game! There is something to be said about solid, refined gameplay. Darksiders may borrow a lot of ideas, but it executes on all of them almost flawlessly. I played this on PS3 and loved every minute of it.

Please support the game and dont kill your chances at a sequel by massively pirating it . It's not often PC get that genre of games

From what I can see of the videos it is basically a hack and slash game. If that is the case I really can't see this game doing all that well. It certainly isn't the kind of game I would bother with.

Picture Kratos and Zelda mating, out comes War from Darksiders. You'll get a lots of puzzles in this game, its very fun.

but it ties them together so well the game benefits from them. Think zelda meets God of war meets gears of war (kinda). I loved the game and it took me 19 hours or so to finish it, though I spent alot of time searching for the hidden chests that you can only see with the mask of shadows. Looking forward to the sequel.

I played this game on PS3 and I must say that it's a lot of fun. Reminds me of Zelda, but with mature settings and situations (violence and whatnot)

I can honestly recommend this game if you're a fan of Zelda or other hack-and-slash games. There are numerous different types of enemies, the boss battles are fun, and as you progress you get different items to use, like Zelda.

This games sold horribly on the console. Under a million on both the PS3 and 360 combined. Now THQ wants a PC bailout. I suggest they really crank up the graphics, fine tune the controls for KB/M and PC controllers especially Logitech, and throw in some DLC or extended missions or something.

Most importantly lower the price and sale it on Steam but with so many PC games hitting Steam in the next couple of months I don't know if this console REJECT will get that much love. Especially since it lacks DX11 features.

Darksiders it's like Gow of War III without Kratos, Sony, Titans, and everything else that makes GOW3 great plus no DX11 features.

The game sold pretty well , to the point the devs and THQ have been quite happy (they own words on a few places) ... and to the poin the game is getting a sequel .
It certainly deserved better , like many games , but did fine

The biggest sellers of the genre are usually Devil may cry and god of war , with each usually at most 500k at US launch (till gow 3 , at least , and with the first even just doing 166k at launch).

By your logic , capcom sold sf4 horribly , hence warranting a pc version lol

Street Fighter 4 sold 2.5 million copies world wide then had a PC release 5 months later as a PC version was already announced before the console release. Standard operations.

Darksiders barely a million or under a million units sold and when ask before the console launch was a PC version going to be released they " Vigil Games" said NO stating Darksiders was a console exclusive.

I don't care that they changed their mind but most likely money is involved as the game hasn't produced the numbers they wanted. Yes a sequel is announced but don't hold your breath. as the game isn't that good. Heres a break down vs. the competition that released around the same time.

God of War 3 1.5 million (PS3 exclusive 2 weeks)
Beyonetta 1.2 million
Darksiders 1 million
Dante's Inferno 900K
Dark Void 230k (epic fail)

Actually Bayonetta and Dante's Inferno are better than Darksiders and those should be ported as well but all four pale in comparison to Kratos

You're actually proving with those numbers my point , in wich i didnt delved in more details .

The genre doesnt sell as much as others . Darksiders numbers , at both launch and worldwide are within the ballpark one could expect from the genre , and from a new ip .

With yet again only series like God of war and devil may cry usually faring better among hack and slash games . Both with a much bigger marketing , and both well established franchises .

Calling Darksiders a failure is basically the same as calling most successful hack and slash not reaching GoW's and DMC's status , a failure .

You just obviously dislike the game and favor other stuff (lol @ dante's inferno btw) and thus twist numbers .

Again , if Darksiders is a failure , even more so would be Dante's inferno , Bayonetta , and a few others , given the magnifitude of the positive press and hype they received . Wich is just silly .

The fact remain thq and virgil were happy and announced a sequel , the rest is your conjecture about the why and reasons of that pc version . Or maybe too much patcher .

Numerous people were sad that it only did a million , because it deserved more by most people accounts ... not because it was magically suppposed to sell like some Mass effect or big two franchises from above (gow and dmc) .

Nice! I was wishing this would come out on pc and my wish has come true. I rented this on the ps3 and was surprise how much I enjoyed it. I couldn't finished it cause I rented it a week before God of war 3 came out. Now im really looking forward to finishing this game.

16xq anti aliasing instead of the big ZERO the consoles had....

AND......120fps instead of the 20-30 frames per second the consoles had....

I'll buy it day one as I tried to play it on consoles but it looked and ran so crappy I couldn't
