Cast your mind back to the 16 bit days and games like Scrap Metal were fairly common. Top down arcade/action style racers like Micro Machines and Rock n Roll Racing were much loved staples of gamers’ diets, but in the last decade or so they seem to have completely dried up in favour of uber realistic eye candy and accurate physics engines.
