Gallery: Metro 2033 DX11 Shots, Competes With Crysis Graphically

Exophase.com writes, "There's no doubt about it - 4A Games' recently released post-apocalyptic shooter sure is a looker. As far as interior environments are concerned, we have the gall to say to say that it competes with the mighty Crysis graphically. Surpasses it, even."

Hit the break for an assortment of screens maxed to full tilt under DX11.

30-40 fps on a 5970 @1080p plus a linear game? Unoptimized much? Or is DX11 destined to be a curse on hardware requirements just like DX10 was?

Letros5159d ago

non-WHQL Catalyst 10.3 will be out today, ATI never officially leaks drivers but the performance gains are very good, check them out.

lelo2play5159d ago

i have not played the game, but those screens look great.

iamgoatman5159d ago

The poor performance is normally down to driver maturity. When DX10 was released there was a substantial performance hit, but these days the performance is no where near as bad as it was.

Although I suspect DX11 will be far more hardware intense than DX10 was to DX9.

likedamaster5159d ago (Edited 5159d ago )

Actually, it says "maxed to full tilt under DX11". Crysis can't do that even without DX11. Max out Crysis(original) to full tilt and you get nothing but 3 fps with the same card.

Anyway, it's impressive stuff, downloading the game now.

Metro 2033 on Xbox is out the same time as the PC

RagTagBnd4455159d ago

The only good thing about these screenshots are the texture resolution. Not close too Crysis.

Chris_TC5159d ago

I agree, the high-res textures are nice. But other than that I'm not impressed at all.

Considering that most scenes seem to take place in dark tunnels while Crysis has to render dense jungle all the time, Metro 2033 should blow everyone away with its graphics. But it sure doesn't blow me away. Crysis is still the king.

doublebass25159d ago

Have played the 360 version and i have to say that i m impressed..most of the time.as some other article compared the 360 with the pc version, there are not many graphical differences..other places do look astonishing, others look...meahh(snow textures for example)..but certainly is no match for crysis...killzone 2 maybe!

lonix5159d ago

Fallout 3 except for charachter models are a bit more complex

zslash5158d ago

Comparable to Fallout? Here's a gameplay video:

Blows Fallout 3 away graphically.. no comparison whatsoever.

Metro Video Game Series: A Comprehensive History

The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.

TheBrainZ84d ago

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco3384d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast83d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.

Has anyone here played it? It looks interesting but I'm not sold on it yet.

jjb1981995d ago

It has an actual story tied to your actions. The environments are immersive and I believe they just added DLSS. The devs are VERY active in the Steam community. The game has been released past the 1.0 version. There are some crafting mechanics and base building similar to Fallout 4. I like the voice acting and world building. You run missions for supplies, recruiting characters and progressing the story.. I've been playing since early access and the game has come a LONG way. I can't make any recommendations for any console versions because I don't know how those run.

camel_toad995d ago

Ok thanks all for the info and sales pitch. I'm going to get it after hearing this. And it's also nice to hear it has DLSS. One of the best advancements to come along in quite a while.

MadLad995d ago (Edited 995d ago )

I supported it via Early Access, but just played a bit before to get a feel for it.
Just officially started it last night, and I'm having a great time with it.

JsonHenry995d ago

Its a fantastic game. The reviewer is right. If it you like those other two games you'll probably like this one too.

GhostScholar995d ago

I'm sold on it big time. I love the metro games and to me this is very much in that wheelhouse. It was very impressive technically as well.

EvertonFC995d ago

Looking fwd to it, I thinks it's November for ps5 release so gonna wait 😊

THEzRude995d ago

Can whole heartedly recommend.
