A fanboy can only see his or her console and nothing else. They ignore the facts and everything surrounding them. Fanboys have caused the deterioration of the industry among other things. Take a look at the simple facts.

The first fact he states is that the ps3 is a better console than the 360. I wonder what he means by that. If he is saying for him... that is an opinion. If he is talking about failure rate, that makes sense. I think he is a little messed up though. If one person prefers the 360 console over the ps3 then it is no longer a fact. It is then an opinion. Oh well, either way.

Does anyone see the problems? Lets start with which version of the word your he used. Since he is saying you are, he should have spelled it you're. Also, as far as I can tell it is about the games. If you just had a ps3 with no games, it'd just be a blu-ray player. Luckily it has great games, like God of War III and Uncharted 2 though. Poor guy tried to do a nice article though.

I have an original and an Elite 360 that have NEVER had one issue since day one.

i have multiple friends that own PS3s that have had issues that needed repairs.

I'm on my 4th 360. To those of us who have had nothing but trouble since they bought their 360's I assure you it most certainly IS an ongoing issue despite your assertions that it's not because you've never had one. Microsoft didn't use their clever accounting practices to hide the ongoing cost of the rrod problem from their shareholders because there isn't an issue.

I have to agree with this article. The 360 could have the best games hands down but if it can't play them because the hardware keeps breaking down it really doesn't matter now, does it? I'm afraid to buy games on my 360 anymore because I just know the second I start buying games for it my 4th one (which was older than the console it replaced. Thanks for that, Microsoft) it'll die without a warranty. All I hope is that it makes it until Alan Wake and possible Halo Reach.

I think his point is simple. It doesn't matter how good a system is if it can't be relied upon to work consistently. It could produce Crysis level screens, but if there is a 33% chance it is going to fail within the next 6 months, you should be strongly discouraged from getting it... ANY other product in any other market would fail miserably if they experienced the equivalent of the RROD during their product lifetime. But its amazing what you can do when you have a limitless supply of wealth at your disposal to market something. Let me be a little descriptive of just what has happened. MS delivered the gaming community a steaming pile of dog crap and marketed it as the most amazing thing since sliced bread, and over 20 million americans actually ate it(coupled with another 15 million outside) and then when the consumers realized what they were eating, MS turns around and says hey man im sorry we accidentally gave you dog crap, here, we will give you another serving of it for free just to make up for it… and what do you know, they turn around and eat that second serving of crap as well…and the third and fourth and so on….

its literally shocking to watch them all scarf it down too… and then these consumers say, “hey cool people eat dog crap! over 20 million people have in the US alone, why arent you! dog crap is the best!! Look at sales Look at the numbers man!”

I'm sorry no matter how you dress up crap, its still crap, and those of you who went through more than 1 console should be ashamed especially knowing how incredibly unreliable the system is.

sony offered everything they thought you would need DAY ONE.yes it was h#lla expensive but worth it over time.bluray is great for movies and games.hdmi is not only good for 1080p,but for future 3D gaming.sony offers free online just like they did for ps2.free 3D community.the system is reliable.they give you CHOICE on third party HDDS at a price that is fair.PS Move is shown working and not hiding behind closed doors.

Though in the end, there's really little denying the comparison between a gaming pc and 360. Most of the library is the same except there is no fee for online play, the games are usually cheaper/look better, and the accessories are much more affordable. To me, the 360 is a poor man's gaming PC in disguise as a console and is single-handedly destroying PC gaming. Does that make that a fact? No. That is just my opinion.

I'm an Xbox owner too. But I've been a Sony man all my life. I was very disappointed with the Smug-ass comments Kutaragi made about the PS3 when it was debuted, and I was also taken in by Halo.

So I got an Xbox. Of course, it didn't take long to see the problem with my beloved console (Even though I've never experienced any of them). I'm not afraid to admit that the 360 is a gimped product created out of greed (or necessity, if you want to call it that) to beat the competition. And now it's backfiring because the PS3 is making a solid run now and is looking to take over this generation.

But, be that as it may, it is STUPID to say that the 360 doesn't have it's strong points. Because it does. But the PS3 also has it's weak points. Fewer indeed than the 360, but they are still there.

But of course, I don't swear my allegiance to any console. I play GAMES. It doesn't matter what the console. And unfortunately, too many are stuck in their blind devotion to Savior [Insert Favorite Console Here] to take a moment and assess things objectively.

The older I get the more I find that people don't normally have different opinion they just disagree on what the facts are. The problem is that a fact is true no matter what your point of view is. So if two people disagree on what the facts are then at least one if them is wrong and possible both of them are wrong. In addition, an important distinction is that a fact can indeed be proven wrong while an opinion can not.

The could be author clearer on what his meaning was. People try to cloud the facts in order to justify their point of view. I find that there are 1) Facts that are clear/difficult to cloud. 2) Facts that are easy to cloud 3) People's opinions that they believe are facts. 4) Things that people say are their opinions but they are so outlandish that they are not credible.

The height of manipulation is to argue that an irrefutable fact is not really a fact at all, but just an opinion.

Still some things about gaming are clear facts even though us fans on either side don't like them.

Clear Fact: Xbox 360's have been more likely to break from normal usage over this generation than PS3's are.

An opinion: Being less likely to break makes a PS3 a better console than a 360.

Clear Fact: The Xbox 360 has more games over-all than the PS3 does.

An Opinion: Having more games over-all makes a 360 a better console than a PS3.

The term "better" is relative to the stated usage. He erred when he stated that a PS3 was a better console without stating "better at what."

I am a certified Sony Playstation Supporter, and have been ever since I bought my PS1. I will always support the Playstation name because they earned my respect.

In stating this I would like to say the big reasons why the PS3 is better is because it was built to be the best and have proved it with its exclusives. The second, and this is important, is because the PS3 gives you more reasons to own it. Most of the games that are interesting on the 360 can be played without the console at all. So in my eyes giving me a list of awesome 360 games knowing I can play them on PC just makes the 360 look irrelevant. Not saying I won’t own one in the future, but this FACT makes buying a 360 not a rush at all. Computers has far more uses outside of gaming in the first place so that gives me more reasons to get a new one anyway.

So how can something be better when it clearly has no advantages over the other? Unlike people, hardware can’t make the best out of a situation to come out on top. They are literally the sum of their parts and are stuck in their design. Even the PS2 had advantages over the X-Box, and the original X-Box was technically better on paper. It was more reliable, you didn’t need a special adapter to play DVDs, Your dual shock could double as a remote control, better games, could stand horizontal and vertical. If you think about it, the 360 is just a product of the Microsoft's war with Sony last generation.

Unfortunately when they made the 360 they didn’t have the future in mind.

What I find funny is that people would argue that point. However, Microsoft said long ago in the original Xbox days that they weren't trying to be some new innovative force in the industry. They just wanted a piece of the gaming pie. (I believe it was in some stockholder's meeting...sure it wasn't supposed to reach us.) Either way, they have indeed gotten that piece of pie. Let's hope this gen will make them WANT to become innovative and take the lead...if only for competition's sake.

Same logic could be applied to YLOD, proving the author's point. I've had RROD, so mine hasn't worked fine all the time. But I would buy another 360 because Microsoft fixed mine for free and showed me that they're willing to stand behind the product. That wasn't my experience with the PS2. But I was right there to buy my 60 GB PS3.

Good question!!! This might be the only time that I have seen consumers that are willing to purchase something multiple times that they have had break in the past just because it was fixed for free. That's kind of like going to a surgeon that leaves a sponge in you during your first surgery...and saying..."I'd go back to him...he made a mistake...but he fixed it for free!" Would you buy a car that you KNEW was known to break within the 1st year...just because it had a warranty? I doubt most would.
I am not a console elitist, but if I owned ANY console that I had to replace more than once (within a reasonable time-frame)...then I am moving on. Had one Atari 2600, one Intelevision, one commodore 128, one Gameboy (original), one Game Gear, one Playstation, 2 PS 2's (first day one PS2 lasted over 5 years), one Xbox, one PS3 (day one, no probs..fingers crossed)!

Now, I have to agree with both his points on "facts" 2 and 3. However, even though I only
own a PS3 and a Wii, I can't say that the PS3 is just flat out better. I can say that I
enjoy more games on the ps3, and I can say that I am not interested in a vast majority of
the flagship games out for the 360. those are facts, but they only pertain to me.

In the end the "best" system is the one you have the most fun on. For me its the ps3.
After the ps3 its a tie for the wii and the 360. 360 is great for playing FPS games
and the wii is good fun when I have 2 or 3 people over.

The words "best" and "fact" generally will not go together in most sentances, as the
word "best" itself denotes some level of subjectivity. Some people will tell you that
the original donkey kong is the best game ever, or that the commodore64 was the best
computer. The word itself defies objectivity, and as such, anyone claiming one item is
Better than another, is simply stating so from their singular point of view, which
may or may not, coincide with your own.

To illustrate this, one could crunch all the numbers (the graphics abilities the
failure rates, the units sold, etc etc) down to the last possible decimal place, and
come up with numerical data saying console X is the best, console Y is inferior. The
problem with doing that is that in the end of it all, if I have more fun personally on
console Y than I do on console X, then for me console Y is the best there is.
