Top 5 Playstation 3 exclusives that need trophies

Because trophy support didn't became mandatory until the start of 2009, plenty of great Playstation 3 exclusive games missed out on the opportunity. Here are the top five early PS3-only titles that need a trophy patch.

For me, Lair's in my top 5. That game was built for Trophies. I hope they have that still implemented for HOME's 3D trophy room though. The first pic of them looked sweet.

@ will11 we aren't here to read essays wtf!! It's a bit late for trophies on MGS4, I think they should leave it be as my friend got a Big Boss Emblem, and he would be annoyed if it showed up on other people's profile but not his.. He doesn't even have MGS4 anymore but would have definitely gone for plat, I may have as well. What's done is done, trophies don't affect the gameplay, so I don't mind because I game for fun and MGS4 was EPIC!!!! the only people suffering are the trophy whores who only play a game for trophies - lmao they would rather play hannah montana than any of the games above LOL, maybe they need a life..

Copy this and Crtl+F then Crtl+V in Firefox and look for yourselves.

Just add up the prices of a nVidia 7600, 8core processor, 256MB, 40GB harddrive, blu-ray/DVD/CD player, basic motherboard with wifi, usb, bluetooth, eithernet, and a remote controller with charger and you will reach beyond $800 (actually it is somewhat higher, if someone wants a true breakdown). So given this situation, and the problem of windows OS higher than the price of one PS3 (check the price of the full-featured version of vista), and linux not user friendly and too varied with too many libraries preventing a common platform for releasing software for, perhaps another unconstrained opened market on the console would do a lot of good. If you want to learn more about the playstation 3There are too many versions, and getting software to run on different versions requires to much setup problems that limits the market for any type of programs or games. Well, you may be asking, why not just get a cheap PC to do it? The main problem with the PC is that it is not marketed as efficiently and cheaply as the consoles. Given the that price of the console is subsidized by blu-ray games, it is being essentially given away freely given what you get for the money. For example you can never purchase a PC (even without the lcd monitor) with the full feature list of a PS3 at USD$399.

i would love a reason to play MGS4 again, if it ever gets trophies im in.

as for heavenly sword, not even trophies would make me play that game again, seriously it was an over rated chore-fest, the game took me around four hours to get to the last boss, and after trying for around three hours to kill him i gave up and youtubed the ending.

Anyhow, OT, I think his list was pretty cool, tbh, but you could always add TOD and Q4B as R&C's long history of Skill points makes them a natural for Trophies-we vets of the series were probably searching for daft things like this way before even Achievements were thought of! Wasn't HL2 also an early adopter of something similar? Never bothered collecting them in game though so can't remember now!

Whatever, games like VC and Folklore (and HS as it's so short but deserves a chance at todays bargain prices as people will be amazed just how great and cinematic it looks for an early title that still stands up to 90% of new games)deserve to be played by more people and this could get a few copies sold and, at the outside, make a sequel to a game or two possible in the future. I'd LOVE an expanded Folklore sequel myself as the games got a ton of under developed ideas that could be carried on and was another good looking, stylised early title.

challenge.. replayability.. Trying out new things that you wouldn't think of otherwise...

Some gamers like that sort of thing, while others dont really care about the game once they are done with it.

MGS4's replayability could be increased exponentially if they added trophies for all the emblems and stuff. Also, they may say beat the game with melee only or w/e.. or something people normally don't do/use.

Wipeout HD had pretty crazy trophies.. very fun to chase after..

but for those who are collecting them, it's kinda fun to do! before trophies, I seldom play my games more than once except for great games like Uncharted DF, MGS4, R&C ToD and old games like KH which I played more than 2 times each but for trophies, I've played almost all of my games more times to get the trophies and possibly Platinum although I focus more on offline trophies because I'm not THAT good online! so, the thing is, it's fun even if not for all, it's still fun!

If nothing else I think Sega would make more money adding throphies to VC then the new DLC. It has ingame one already just make them offical Sony ones.
I'd love to give folklore another go, but games keep knocking it back my list to play. Throphies don't dictate what I play, but can change how I play, mirrors edge was alot more fun playing it without firing a bullet.

anyway, i don't need these games to have Trophies. personally, i think Trophies/Achievements are the most pointless thing introduced to gaming this generation.

maybe it's because i spent years as a QA Tester, where, on a daily basis, i had to unlock Trophies/Achievements.

after unlocking the "Get 1,000 Wins" for the 15th time in the span of two weeks, Trophies/Achievements lose their appeal.

i guess i just see the pointlessness of them, and don't care.

besides, MGS4 and Tools of Destruction were two of the games i was able to play when the PS3 "Clockblockers" issue happened. if they had Trophy support, i wouldn't have been able to play ANYTHING that day.

i have no desire to measure my e-peen with anybody, so i don't see the appeal of the Gamerscore or Trophy score.

i'll get a Platinum Trophy under two conditions only:

1) It's tied to some actual, usable unlockable in game (ie, the Trophies in Uncharted are tied to points that you earn in game to spend on unlockables/cheats like infinite ammo and new character skins).

and

2) During my playthrough of the game, i unlocked so many of the Trophies naturally, that i might as well cap them off (ie, inFAMOUS; i beat the game playing Good, and because i wanted to play through Bad, i beat it again. during those two playthroughs, i got about 90% of the Trophies, so i figured i might as well top them off).

i only have 4 Platinum Trophies (Uncharted 1 and 2, inFAMOUS, and Ratchet and Clank Future: ACIT) because of the above two reasons.

i'll probably end up getting a Platinum in Heavy Rain, only because i've been playing the game over and over again (i'm on my 4th playthrough right now), because i want to see all the different permutations of the story and the endings/epilogues.

i don't think i've ever actively pursued a Platinum because i just "had to" Platinum the game.

the gaming experience isn't any better or worse because of Trophies/Achievements, but i'm certainly not missing anything in MGS4, Ratchet, etc because they DON'T have them.

besides, the R&C series has had "Achievements" for AGES now, they're just called Skill Points. the feature is exactly the same, however: you unlock the "Skill Point" by performing a task in the game, on a certain planet.

the difference with the Skill Points in R&C is that they actually reward you with in game points to spend on cheats (like Uncharted).

some of those Skill Points are brutally hard to get though, and they are all hidden, so you have to guess, based off of the title of it, what the unlock conditions are.

needless to say, i've yet to unlock all the Skill Points in Ratchet: TOD OR ACIT.

It already has a 'skill points' system that's basically trophies, just not networked. All they'd need to do is modify that code to award trophies instead.

I wish that trophies would come out for these games. As a developer, I would definitely go back and add them. It gets people to play the game. Especially since there are a lot of trophy whores out there like me. At the time, when Uncharted and GTA IV got their trophy support. Everyone went back and played those games, and sales went up as well. But from a publisher standpoint, they are probably forcing these developers to move on to either sequels or new games. We are lucky we got trophy patches for GTA IV, The Force Unleashed, Warhawk, Uncharted and a few others.
My top games to get trophy support would be:
1. Devil May Cry 4
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Motorstorm
4. Metal Gear Solid 4
5. Heavenly Sword
6. Assassins Creed

I definitely agree with Resistance. That game should get trophies for being the first in now what has become a long list of great games. Metal Gear is obvious.

i would add Motorstorm , Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction , Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Lair to that list but overall the games the journalist listed are the main ones that in my opinion need to get trophies , i really want to see Heavenly Sword and Folklore getting sequels
