Square Enix knows exactly what the players of its flagship MMO, Final Fantasy XI, want: New things to kill, which drop new things to wear. The company will fulfill these primal urges with three "Battle Area Add-On Scenarios" which will be released throughout the year. The first expansion, Vision of Abyssea, will go live during the summer, with two others, Scars of Abyssea and Heroes of Abyssea following soon after. Each new area can be purchased for $9.99 through the PlayOnline Viewer.
Nearly seven years after her initial appearance in 2007′s Wings of the Goddess expansion pack storyline, Cait Sith will soon be added to Final Fantasy XI as an avatar. She will be the first avatar added to the game since the addition of Treasures of Aht Urhgan‘s Odin and Alexander in 2010.
An artist by the name of Tweex has announced the release of a remix album featuring the music from Final Fantasy XI called "The Land of Vana'diel". The album is said to have 18 songs that have been remixed in the style of cinematic orchestral music and will be free to download on August 1, 2012.
This looks absolutely AMAZING. I love Final Fantasy XI and even though I don't have enough time to play it, this album will let me relieve the nostalgia I have for it. I can't wait for August 1st!

Still rolling on FF XI? Quite an odd decision, looks like square enix knows what FF XV ended up being...
I still hop on from time to time but I just really want to see whats in store for FFXIV. This was my first MMO that I ever played (Started back at PS2 launch with this one) and easily invested about 3 years into it. Seeing these updates from time to time makes me really want to get back into it sometimes...
This update is going to ruin this game. Raising the level cap to 99, giving Samurai Dual-wield (according to the pictures from the live feed), lowering the level in which Sekkanoki is obtained, etc. is just overkill.
