MCV report reports that Gabe Newell, the founder and managing director of Valve Software, has labelled the PlayStation 3 "a total disaster."

"The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It’s really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted," Newell told Game Informer magazine. "I’d say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a ‘do over’. Just say, ‘This was a horrible disaster and we’re sorry and we’re going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it.’"

I know, that was ridiculous. But somehow I can see Edge saying that this game is not original enough or its TOO GOOD LOOKING and make up some stupid argument that graphics should not look that good yet kinda like Gamespot did when they said Ratchet and Clank had TOO MUCH VARIETY.

That is very true, but this is the type of game that even knowing the ending will not spoil it. That's true quality. This isn't like playing through Halo 3 just for the purpose of trying to find out if the Chief finally dies. This is about every minute leading up to it. Every second we get to experience the story "Kratos", will redefine the industry. Every kill sets the bar higher, every camera move causes other devs to crumple up and toss their GDD, every line of dialogue makes an xbox fan cry himself to sleep. This is what quality is.

At the end of the day, while they are reading about the ending, we'll be playing our way to it.

But hey, maybe Halo Reach will be in HD this time around.

And now we have people hyping up the God of War 3 graphics in the article about the new trailer. It looks good, but not nearly as good as some of those guys are making it out to be. Many of the textures are low resolution and while it has huge boss battles people seem to forget how huge some of the boss battles were on the PS2. From a technical perspective it is well above average, but it is not raising any bars.

Alan Wake looks substantially more realistic.

They _really_ tightened this game up. Even small touches of making the QTEs blend in and show if you succeed or not really help out overall. This is kind of why I was so harsh on Dante's Inferno, because yeah, it's not going to be GoW3, but it could have at least tried to get close.

Words evade me. What I watched was "beyond belief" as Nowgamer said. CGI quality visuals, incredible new moves and mindblowing story. First Person Kills == M*f*cking GENIOUS!

This game is gonna make things a lot harder for all developers, including Sony's. To surpass GoW3 it's gonna take some time if ever. Probably another game from Santa Monica itself.

Sony is defining the difference between 1st party developers and 3rd party developers.
I doubt any other developer outside of Sony's 1st party will be able to top Sony's quality. The PS3 is epicness from the ground up, in every possible way it was built in the system, a true best of this generation.

I'd also like to say that after seeing this in motion, it looks much better than I originally thought. I'm still not sure if it surpasses Uncharted 2, but it's pretty dang close. And it's on a far greater scale than U2. Screenshots just don't do it justice.

Looks like a huge amount of time and talent has been invested in this game. I like the fact that it doesnt seem to be just about graphics but its coupled it with some real imagination.

However, don't be a child and try to use this to slate the 360. Just focus on the game.

To be honest, I am worried about the other titles from now on. Is it even possible to match what GOW3 is? I went back to the Alan Wake vid. . . Consider me stupid, but I am not even sure if I'll get GoW3 on launch. I have a very strict rule when buying new games: make sure they can last. Regardless of quality I can't sink $70 CND to a game that is around 15 hours long. (How long is #3 btw?)

I think depending on how Final Fantasy 13 ends up I may make an exception for God of War. It is, to this day, the one Sony franchise I have never EVER played, next to Metal Gear Solid.

I never Played any of the God of War Series, (Never Had a PS2 and my PS1 was Stolen) , Was more a computer gamer when these consoles existed.

Now as a PS3/360 owner, I'm enjoying the access it allows to gaming.

As a non committed console/ip/game series FB, I just dont get the hype some PS3 fanatics are giving this game on graphics....

Sure, story and gameplay I have not experienced in the GOW realm and it is most likely, Awesome! , But, in the graphics dept , compared to other console games, the only clear advantage is the scale.

As for Graphics overall, there are many titles that impress "me" more.

I knew my PS3 was powerful but I never imagined that it could run games that look like they could be PS4 launch titles.

Developers thought Uncharted 2 made them look bad. I am sorry but GOW III makes other games look downright last gen.

I think this will force third party developers to now utilize the PS3's power because PS3 install base is almost the same with 360s and developers will need to compete with PS3 exclusives for dollars.

This all but confirms what we already knew. Multi-platform developers have been developing for the lowest denominator which is the 360.

I can safely say the 360 is holding back the PS3. There is no proof on anything the 360 has to offer to compete with what we just saw.

God of War 3 will be game of the year, not only that but until Killzone 3 ( or even Resistance 3 ) comes out it will be the best looking game on any console. I haven't seen any game that has topped Uncharted 1 on the 360 and yet Killzone 2 has surpassed them and so has Uncharted 2 now God of War 3 has taken it to the next level. I almost feel sorry for all those who had doubted Sony because they are all eating their words now. There is no game that M$ has shown that can come close to the graphical level of Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 and now God of War 3. Not even Halo Reach has shown it will top Killzone 2 so how is the 360 going to top God of War 3.

dude, you have not read Bruno`s blog and the developers notes. most sequences are actually realtime meaning (no streaming behind the scenes of a pre recorded video) with very few sequences that were too epic and had to be recorded from the engine. The in-game graphics of GOW3 looked miles better than the CG prerendered movie featured in the latest Alan Wake title (That small blurry 5% of gameplay quickly tossed on screen was so pathetic, Alan Wake looks like crap).

Where to start?... I will just say this. I'm not a fan of the GOW series at all but what I saw in the 1:30 that I watched made my jaw drop and I'm not BS'n. I was speechless. It's because the RAM is so much slower than the CPU that it leads to blocking/wait states as the CPU twiddles it's thumbs. Installing a small fast cache helps a little bit but is itself still a bottleneck.

What they should have done is match all the CPU RAM to the speed of the CPU and then there is no bottleneck and the system constantly runs @3.2GHz without blocking/wait states for the CPU.

Definitely first day purchase. Does any one know how did they made it so good looking. 1st there was texture streaming tech for good graphics. UC2 is king in that department. Then came Deffered Shading with KZ2. Does GOW3 uses both.

BUt with Deferred shading you cant push much polygons that the obvious issue of that technique. SO what did Sanata Monica did. They are really incredible devs.

See..this is what true devs do...Sony Santa Monica deserves NOTHING but the UTMOST praise for this game. While they were still working on GOW2..they split their programing team in half JUST TO GET A BETTER HANDLE ON THE PS3!!!!!!!!!! The result = too much epic lol. I wish EVERY dev had the dedication Sony Santa Monica has on both sides of the fence...so we would get nothing but awesome games!!

Just imagine what Final Fantasy XIII would have looked like had it have stayed exclusive and pushed the ps3. I bet that game would have had more playable characters/summons, towns and more than just one side quest(67 missions/hunts from final fantasy XII -_-)

I was gonna wait till Killzone 3 to get a PS3 but after seeing this video.... Scratch that getting PS3 March 16th 2010 and the masterpiece that is God of War 3.

I read all 300 + post and NOT 1 360 fanboy had anything negative to say because this game is the TRUTH. one even gave GOW3 PROPS.

Can't describe the euphoria I just saw. Kratos is unstoppable. The console war is OFFICIALLY OVER!
