A New Kind of Shooter

It's relatively common, even expected, for a movie or book to emotionally engage us, but arguably a foreign feature to gaming. This may not be the most obvious starting point for a look at Haze, Free Radical's showpiece all-format FPS: but Haze may just be a new starting point for the FPS and action games in general.

Hope it turns out as deep and mature as they say. We need more games with more than pretty visuals and kool gameplay. Haze should be a serious real game. This is gameing as art.

I agree. But there's always the danger of over-hyping and setting the bar too high. If they talk it up without delivering they'll fail, even if the game is well done. Non-Launch titles don't sell very well with review numbers in the 8's. I hope that this isn't just some marketing B.S.

visually it looks good
but gameplay come on its just another run of the mill fps
nothing special
yes you get necter
but come on its just another excuse to F*up you HUD
so you can run faster see thru trees and hear your squad yell at your ass because there dumbass runs into your grenades

I hope it really will turn out the way they say it will, because when I think of FPS games, and I am sure there are many people who also think the same thing, is that every FPS game is about shooting and blowing things up.

Also from what we know of the story and the world it is set in almost sounds like a darker version of Robocop.

agreed.. I think its sth like marketing BS..

but anyway goodgame is goodgame.. dont care about what their devs saying.. I must see reviews and test it myself.

and about HAZE, making a FPS with new style isnt new.. many devs trying to make new kind of FPS but failed..

somtimes improving an old style is better like HALO, it works..

or making a REALLY new Idea and storyline like Bioshock

or making new Technology in rendering and visuals like Killzone or Crysis

all of games above will have a good gameplay because Gameplay is the most important part in FPS & W/O that the game is Nothin more than Piece of S..

hope to see HAZE do sth right in FPS section.. we dont expect too much

Especially the part about how they are going for an artistic look instead of the cookie cutter art direction that most fps's are built on. I see potential sleeper hit all over this title.

I love the concept and I love the more complex themes of the game but I fear that many of the people who play video games might be turned off by this. I hope I am wrong, but reading the ramblings of many on this site alone makes me think that action and graphics are all that people want. On the other hand MGS3 was a success and had some complex questions so I could be selling people short.
