Sims 3 Coming To Consoles, No Dead Space 2 For PC

Today EA announced their release schedule for their 2011 fiscal year, which runs from April 1st, 2010 to March 31st, 2011. They also indicated what platforms these games will arrive on, and there are a few surprises.

That there is no Dead Space 2 for PC. I played all three versions of Dead Space from three different platforms and have to admit, the best one was on PC. I was planning on the PC version of DS2 but alas, it will have to be for the consoles.

we already have a bunch of great action adventure, we are severly lacking survival horrors, Dead Space has to be my favourite one too, but now it is no more, EA may aswell just make a new IP then change what made Dead Space so awesome, and sims 3 on consoles? meh! no thanks, not my kinda game.

Who honestly thought Sims 3 wasn't coming to consoles?? The thing I wan't to know is it gonna be like previous console incarnations and completly suck compared to the PC version and not include house builder etc.. I mean the PS3 and 360 are both mouse/keyboard capable the PS3 more so. So why not?

Yes! Lol I own this on my PC but I want to get it on console because my PC isnt as powerful as my console and it gets choppy at high settings. Before we get off to a bad start I said "MY PC" lol. I just suck when it comes to PC gaming so I dont even bother upgrading. Even though the PC has some very fun and interesting mods for The Sims 3. Hopefully they will have some way of allowing you to download houses on the console though.

Consoles come with so many hidden costs to gaming you have no idea. Sims 3 on consoles wont be the same as on Pc. In terms of mods there will be none which will shorten what you can do with the game, sure EA may give you some extra houses but they will charge you for it via DLC (which is definetly not a good trend), On the PC version users had the control to make more content for the game. On console version this control will be taken away, how is having no freedom a good thing?

also i feel its odd that you are fine with consoles running most games at low to medium settings, while on PC you demand that it runs on the highest settings. If you are fine on the console being Low/med setting then why the double standard for PC?

Probably the reason why DS2 won't be on the PC is because piracy is so rampant on the system. BioShock 2 is already on the torrents so it's hardly surprising.

Yeah you didn't bother to mention that the xbox 360 version of Bioshock 2 has been on the torrents for nearly a week now ........... hm funny that.

I don't know how to pirate games on the 360, but I imagine it's slightly more involved than downloading the torrent, using WinZip to extract the files and clicking on setup.exe

Then again, I could be wrong.

whether you know how to pirate on the xbox 360 or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is that with EVERY game that comes out on the 360 and PC it is ALWAYS the 360 version that gets leaked first.

Your comment was geared at going "hey look guys the PC version of Bioshock 2 is already being pirated" I merely pointed out that the Xbox 360 version has been out for over a week on the torrent sites but you didn't bother to mention that did you.

I am saying that the xbox 360 version of Bioshock 2 was leaked onto the net at least 1 week before the PC version. Which is considerably different to what you were trying to say which was "OMGZ the PC version is so like on the net already".

The PC has problems in the area of piracy but it is wrong to neglect the fact the 360 not only has problems with piracy it also has the additional problem of rental sales and used game sales. Your initial comment sought to JUST highlight the fact that the PC version of Bioshock 2 is being pirated. I merely sought to bring balance and show that the Xbox 360 version has been out for a week on the torrents.

That is hardly surprising. This is EA we're talking about. They did the same thing with The Sims 2 and haven't made a proper sports title for the PC since 2005. Besides, I've never really been a fan of Dead Space. It's a decent game but scary? Meh. I can live without that one.

If deadspace had been any good then PC gamers would have bought it. I didn't think much to deadspace the control system was crap with a mouse so I can hardly say I am depressed that deadspace 2 isn't coming to the PC.

I also hear that deadspace didn't exactly fly off the shelves for the consoles either. But hey lets not look at things logically and say "deadspace didn't sell because no one was interested in it" no lets just scream "piracy piracy piracy". The reason why deadspace didn't sell on the PC is NOT because of piracy it was because of a whole host of technical and design decisions that made it a crap game on the PC.

you can't really play dead space with mouse and keyboard. Mouse aiming is very bad in this game. I couldn't even function actually. But, works normal with 360 controller.

I would have thought the controls would still suit a Mouse and Keyboard better, I only played it on PS3, but it played the same as most over-the shoulder shooters, didn't it? Unless I'm mistaken, then you have a good excuse for now liking it all that much.

@ GamerPS360 - well there is the answer then just imagine if they released a game on the xbox 360/PS3 that didn't "work well" with a joypad, would you expect that to sell well ? No of course you wouldn't but people seem to think they can neglect the mouse and keyboard and still sell their game.

I am a PC gamer I do not like joypads, in my view the kind of games that work with joypads do not interest me (ie platformers, beat em ups). There is no reason why deadspace couldn't have worked very well with a mouse and keyboard. It was just laziness on the developers part that it didn't and they paid the price for it in low sales on the PC.

Any one that doubts there were major problems with the control scheme on the PC using the mouse and keyboard then you just need to google "dead space mouse control problems" and you will find a bucket load of stuff on the issue.

So there you go mystery solved the game did not sell badly because of piracy. The game sold badly because it was a crap port and PC gamers had the opportunity to see it was a crap port before EA could con them out of their money.

most of its sales were on Steam, as usual, most PC gamers barely buy from retail anymore. They just buy from Steam.

How is Dead Space debuting at only 6 in the charts, beaten by Spore a year old game indication that it sold well on the PC ? Whether this game was sold at retail or DD the indication is that it DID NOT SELL well on the PC.

If Dead Space had sold well via Steam don't you think EA would be doing a Dead Space 2 on the PC ? The game didn't do well because it had major problems on the PC and most PC gamers didn't buy it because of those problems.

You realize Dead Space didn't sell that well on consoles either? Plus, if anything game development is far cheaper for PC. Just put it on Steam. No worrying about paying for the materials, shipping, people buying the used copy, or people renting the game.

The game was on the Steam Holiday Sale and the 75% off EA store. It was on the topsellers list for a long time on Steam when it first released and during the holiday sale

I am a PC gamer, I can't stand consoles but even I can understand this game didn't sell on the PC. There are pretty damn good reasons why it didn't and they were down to the laziness of the developer. All you have shown is a chart where it debuted at number 6 and was beaten by an ancient 1 year old game and some Nancy Drew crap. I mean come on if your game can't beat "Nancy Drew: The Haunting of Castle Malloy" sales wise, then you are going to be disappointed in sales of your game and not be inclined to release the sequel.

Dead Space sold nearly 2million copies on consoles. Resident Evil 5 sold only 3million more, and it's an established brand, that has forgotten its Survival Horror roots.

As for the rest of your post: Poppycock! Back it up with facts, or shut up. If you've developed anything at all you know what a blessing developing for a couple of architectures is, PC games are much more complicated due to the varied APIs, Hardware Configurations, and CPU architecture. It doesn't matter how complicated the PS3's CELL is, you only have to write for it once!

Why aren't PC devs closing down?

Because majority of the game sales are on Steam, Impulse and Direct2Drive. Those are digital distribution. They don't release sales figures.

PC gamers don't wait, peeing their pants in excitement for the next NPD results. They know most PC games will sell well and the dev will stay in business.

PC is a multiplayer platform, this is why I have a PS3, so I can rent 8-10 hour $60 adventures people go so fanatic about, then its back to competitive multiplayer on PC.

Guess what millions of people will still be playing games on when you all are begging mommy and daddy for a PS4, yea PC, it's not dying. Guess WHY there will even be a PS4, because PC advances hardware for consumers to benefit, if you want to be stuck with lackluster graphics forever, that's what to expect from a PC gaming downfall, but it will never happen because it rakes in too much money, yes more than consoles.

Battlefield Heroes is already a huge income for EA, APB will be later this year, don't forget Need for Speed Online, EA recognizes the persistent market and are making strides to capitalize off it.

The point of the example was that the profiting on PC isn't from things like Dead Space 2, its from multiplayer games, congrats on missing that completely.

Nope thats not the case.

Different platforms get different games, EA is releasing so many games for the PC(id say most of them are superior on the PC as well). its just their business decision not to release ds2 on pc doesnt mean PC as a platform has bad sales.

PS3 game sales are less than stunning, I think L4D2 has sold more than UC2(it's best game until GoW3), there are a lot of people who purchased the PS3 for blu ray and some light gaming here and there, like my sister and her husband(they never even heard of Uncharted until I brought it over)

@champ21- Usually when a game is exclusive is either the company paid them money to keep it """"" "exclusive""&quo t;"" OR the company actually believes the game will sell well, kinda like MGS4 sold over 5 million on PS3 which is not a bad number, developers are seeing that putting games multiplat on Ps3 and 360 have great sales and really have no need to release it on PC. 360 exclusive or PS3 exclusive, I win, thats why I said I only wanted Crysis since I have a 360 for most "windows exclusive" :]

Valid point, consoles have a ton of talent developing for them, even some greats that have turned their back on PC (Epic).

Ultimately PC is changing, you're seeing online-all-the-time stuff, and maybe it is because piracy(even though there is no way to prove it), but that might be a good thing, to bring us innovative multiplayer stuff (I mean just look at APB and tell me you don't want to play that).

Hey, I just said I wanted to play it on my console instead. You dont know what they could possibly do with the Sims 3 on console. There have been games that allow you to download user content on consoles for free and a good example would be farcry 2. EA could do different tweaks to the game on console if they wanted. It's not always the power of the console but the power of the developer also. Not saying its going to be better then the one for PC. Just in my personal situation like I said "MY PC" not "Your PC" is weaker then my console. I only use my pc for video editing and to browse the web. I dont see a problem with me getting the Sims 3 on console I'm sure I will still have fun without uncensored sex mods and etc. I just want to play in a higher quality that I'm playing it now. PC version of the Sims 3 is going to still be better I'm not trashing on it. I just dont see enough great games to make me want to go out and spend a load on a gaming PC to play some of the cool games. I like my interface on my consoles because its easier to keep up on my friends status. That also reminds me I wonder what the achievements/trophies will be.
