The Diablo 3 Year in Review: August 2009

August's monthly wrap up is fairly concise, even though it was the busiest month ever, for news. Why? Since the Gamescon and Blizzcon conventions resulted in such massive info releases that they can't possibly be covered in this monthly review.

Gamescon would have been a huge info event in any other month, but when Blizzcon began two days later, all eyes turned to Irvine, where the Monk was premiered in a new cinematic, a 12-minute gameplay movie was released, we got dozens of new screenshots and concept arts, panel discussions, and countless previews and reports based on hands-on play.

The rest of the month paled in comparison, with little more than Bashiok forum action and miscellaneous tidbits before Blizzcon, and more follow up Blizzcon goodness over the last few days of the month.

Nice summary, looking forward to seeing more of the monk as well. The ironman challenge was particular interesting.

Leord5595d ago

Ironman is a staple Diablo community event :)

Diii will never arrive, this is just a marketing ploy by blizard to crush our souls!!

Orphan5595d ago

Abit like D2 patch 1.13 it would seem!

Maticus5595d ago

The monk gameplay from BlizzCon blew me away.

Terrice5595d ago

The monk is definitely an interesting addition, however I'll probably end up playing the wizard the most. :)

The Monk Machinima was amazing. The while thing about the monk was also awesome. I went from playing the Wizard first to playing him first when the game comes out.

So much happening during last year. Let's hope we might see a beta or something this year!

Terrice5595d ago

That's wishful thinking! With the delays that have been happening...

Diablo 4 and Diablo 3 teams change structure in an attempt to release less buggy seasons

Via Diablo’s global director of community Adam Fletcher, Blizzard is introducing new measures to improve the quality of season launches in the future. Across both Diablo 4 and the aging Diablo 3, fans of Blizzard’s games should all benefit.

If they didn't let the cellphone guy touch the 3rd one in first place, they wouldn't have to dance around like clowns trying to make money.

Xristo99d ago

We've been asking for less "boring" seasons... "boring"... not "buggy"... same ol' rehashed content just a different color is not working.

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Palitera778d ago

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33777d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.
