Tech-Gaming writes: "Shipwreck's Take: By now, it's no secret that I loved Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection. The Wii version was my Most Surprising Game of 2008 and the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions received an Outstanding (the highest review score on Cheap Ass Gamer). So I was of course delighted when I found out that Farsight Studios and Crave had decided to bring their previously released Gottlieb Collection to the Wii. Is this another must have game to add to the [insert your name here] Collection or are your quarters best spent elsewhere?"
Pinball has been around for a long, long time, and Gottlieb was at the forefront of its development into the modern-day style. Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection showcases eleven tables and a couple of other non-pinball goodies in a tour of the company's history reaching as far back as 1937. It uses the same physics engine powering The Williams Collection, making the ball react as close to reality as possible without actually playing the real thing, but unfortunately a few of the tables are more interesting for their age than gameplay. Couple that with a misplaced motion-controlled bump mechanic that can't be remapped and this becomes a slightly disappointing chunk of pinball history.
The latest Nintendo Power review scores have been released, which includes one of the first Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars reviews.
I'm genuinley happy with that score and I'm hoping it does well.
Has anyone seen the game's commercial yet by the way? It's pretty amazing.
Not trying to hate on Nintendo or anything, but who reads that magazine anymore?
I used to back in the heyday and never really liked it.
Dunno why, I think it was because 2/3 of the mag were dedicated to strategy guides for random games. Then letters from eight year old who sneak on their parent's work laptop to write up a message about the fact that they successfully typed and sent a message.
And we can't forgot the majority of the crappy fan art that shows up. I just remember seeing some of them a while back, crumpled white sheets of paper with crayon drawings of Mario looking like a sad defeated old man who's gained three hundred pounds and has 9 fingers on each hand.
Ah...Good times.
good score translates to 8-10 7.5 from the occasional flame bait hate sits/mags that need attention.
im gettin it day 1
i wish we ha a nmh2 review
Even with the step backwards this $20 Wii game is not a bad little compilation, even if the table selection and videogame technology is weaker than the last game. The Pinball Hall of Fame line deserves something much more significant in the next round – Crave, don't cheap out for Version Three…whenever that is.
