The North American Box is too crowded and cheesy

JL5372d ago

I don't think it sh*ts all over it. Both look fine to me. I don't see this one as being too crowded, looks fine. And it's got sort of a mature look to it.

What's this obsession with the boxart and needing it to look like an artistic masterpiece from everybody? It's just a boxart. The game is what's meant to entertain you, not the boxart.

Also, I thought a boxart was already revealed a while back for the US that was alot more plain than this and didn't even have any rain on it ?! Maybe I'm mistaking (obviously).

mfwahwah5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

It sucks because it looks like some ugly ass CSI DVD cover. I hate CSI :|.

Chubear5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

Hey, it's for the NA audience. If you don't put a gun in there somewhere you chances of being notice diminishes greatly. Hell, if it weren't for Mario's success in the 80s Ninty might have put some sort of quirky gun on Mario's hands by now lol

alphakennybody5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

Yeh I never got it why they always do that, just like Ico it was so underrated in the NA because it's cover looked like ass while the PAL looked fantastic! I hate when they put character in front of covers like that As an artist I find it meaningless. the origami alone is perfect! it set the mood without the need of the character on it.

@X__JL__X it's like say a wedding gown shouldn't be pretty. You wanna make a good first impression right? so make it look unique. Right now that cover is just boring to the eyes just like a lot of NA game covers. Il live in Canada by the way so I get the same cover as any NA.

fan_of_gaming5372d ago

haha yea I was thinking the same thing, it has boobs and a gun, which helps its visibility with the North American male consumer.

BTW I'm Canadian so don't think I'm knocking North America, I like the boxart anyways

danielle0075372d ago

Then get a European version shipped to you. :) It is bluray after all. No region limitations.

dgroundwater5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

Why couldn't they stick to the origami paper!? It's not bad, just too "busy", where the European one is just the opposite.

Hisiru5372d ago

European box art is MUUUUCH better but I will play it no matter what the box art looks like.

Shadowstar5372d ago

I would totally import if I knew this were going to be an awesome enough game. (That cover is awesome compared to the US one. I wish Canadians would get the European game covers like they tend to get European book covers... Oh well. Guess it's only fair that the Europeans get something to compensate for the VAT.)

A Cupcake for Gabe5372d ago

I prefer JP/EURO art styles. American Boxes are always cluttered with an action or suspenceful image of the heroes. I like how the Japanese box art really drives that emotion that the game is about.

Example of American and Japanese Resident Evil 4 Box Art.

KUV19775372d ago

You really should not import it from Europe if you want to buy the DLC-Episodes that are supposed to be released. If you have the European Version you will be able to play it just fine in NA, but most DLC is specific for the region. EU and US Discs have different Codes that determine whether or not you can buy DLC in your store. So chances are you are buying a UK version, you will have to buy DLC from the UK-Store, which might work well or not, depending on your credit card...

sikbeta5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

Ah... The American Cover remind me of:

http://www.gamershell.com/s...

DAMN IT!!!.... well not that bad, but definitely could be BETTER

Covers need to convince the Almost Blind Casual Eye, for the love of GOD

I hope people buy this game, SUPPORT THIS GAME and SPREAD THE WORD....

The European Cover Just Fits Perfect, I saw it on joystiq.com and thought it was mock-up, really really Amazing, once again I envy you my European Friends

Redempteur5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

and then again .. the need for publisher to put characters on the box.

i knew the eur box art wouldn't make it because they HAVE TO put the main character(s) in the middle of your cover.

WHY América ?? tell me why ? i don't understand .. in other countries the games sells just fine with a simple original cover .
BUT THEY NEED TO PUT THE CHARACTERS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE !!

i just don't understand ...

Microsoft Xbox 3605371d ago

You cannot be anymore correct man. lol.

Bathyj5371d ago

The Euro version was elegant in its simplicity.

5371d ago
TotalPS3Fanboy5371d ago

Change it to the European boxart!!!

n4gn4gn4gn4g5371d ago

has confirmation that they will post a printable PDF of the EU boxart for NA fans to use.

i likes it. i love the new branding as well. only thing that sucks is my old games now, well, out of place.

Tony240ZT5372d ago

With your spider man collection...

vickers5005371d ago

I actually like the NA cover over the EU box art. But maybe it's because I'm an American, and on this site and to the people on it, all Americans are idiots, right?

SmokeBRK5372d ago

the really awesome and artistic boxarts are dying off... on a different note however, the psn has a pretty sweet heavy rain dynamic theme. its got the same atmosphere as the game (im assuming)

theunknown5371d ago

Overall, good covers have been dead in America for too long.

chidori6665372d ago

terrible.. is like photoshop.

Pandamobile5372d ago

Well no sh1t. Everyone uses Photoshop. How do you think they make the images...

theunknown5371d ago

By not making look like it was photoshop, genius.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1411d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1411d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1410d ago (Edited 1410d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1568d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121568d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1568d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121568d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121568d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

Z5011568d ago

Still have my origami crane they teach you how to make when you're installing for the first time.

C-H-E-F1568d ago

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
