New Game Network reveals it's winners for 2009 in their Best of Awards. Contenders for Game of the Year 2009 are Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed 2, Uncharted 2 and Dragon Age: Origins.

Uncharted is worthy of all the accolades it is getting.
This list is good in certain parts (UC2 GotY, at least they got that right), but is plain strange and way off (imo) in many parts as well.
For one, Dirt2 as best graphics and best driving game? The game isn't even all that good, it's not bad, but nothing special at all. I have a feeling they praised this game just because it's a showpiece for DX11. I'm sorry, but while the game looks very crisp with DX11 running (this is only the PC version, as the console version didn't look as good as Motorstorm PR, much less Forza 3, and the more obvious non-racers), it's very simple. UC2 and KZ2 are the only two games on a technical level that deserve mention in 2009 best graphics. Flower winning best artistic graphics is an opinion, I guess, so I won't downplay that.
Best Story to Cryostasis? WTF? It was one of the worst games I bought this year. A near-horrible game with an interesting story can't have the best story, considering storylines in video games are played out through the game, and if the game itself sucks, the storyline is not worth anything. (I realize Cryostasis was nowhere near the worst game released this year, but I also tend to avoid buying bad games when possible)
They give best driving game to Dirt 2. Fine, because I'm not a big driving game fan, but they don't even have Forza 3 listed in honorable mentions (and undoubtedly is most likely 95% of people's driving game of the year).
By far the strangest pick was what they did with Borderlands. They have it listed as the year's best shooter, listed as an honorable mention for best new IP, yet they also have it listed as one of the years overall worst games...what the hell?
Anyway, this is just one GOTY list, but I just found some of the picks weird and in many cases contradictory to their other picks. Also, while I'm not big CoD:MW2 fan, I think they overdid it a little with the hate.
