Call of Duty 7: Vietnam?

OXM UK writes: "Call of Duty 7 could be set in Vietnam if the latest rumours are to be believed.

Call of Duty: Vietnam (as it's unofficially being called for now) will focus on the story and individual characters, in the same way the Modern Warfare games have."

Treyarch gets no respect. I actually think they could pull this off.

evrfighter5373d ago (Edited 5373d ago )

won't work

it would be world at war jungle maps with modern weapons. maybe the occassional rice paddy village similar to the world at war jungle villages.

though I'm sure napalm strikes would at least look sweet.

Infinity Ward gave Treyarch the golden opportunity to become the #1 with the CoD fans.

With how IW publicly trashes Treyarch I don't think there would be any remorse in passing them up.

The thing is about Vietnahm it's not like WW2. I mean you barely ever know where your enemy is untill AFTER they've shot at you.

Most of your time will be spent in jungle enviroments

That said so LONG as they pay their respect to those who lost their lives as a result of Vietnahm and so long as they give the survivors the honour they respect I will have no problem with it.

It could be very different as a game but I doubt it'd work as well as one might expect, I'd love coastal battles and gave settings but the jungle would scare the hell out of me, you can be surrounded in seconds LITRALLY.

Also bridge crossings would be wierd as hell.

i dunno for some reason i don't like the idea of a game in vietnam :/

personally i thought world at war, aside from the nazi zombies was a pretty terrible game... but the was campaign co-op was kinda fun =D

captain-obvious5373d ago (Edited 5373d ago )

its a great idea
allot of developers could've done it long time ago
but no
they are all just a bunch of pu**ys
and if you asked them y
they'll say
"cus teh US lost in teh Vietnamzzzz"

you go ahead and do it IW
i'll buy it

THE MAX SPEED 215373d ago

Kinda gettin tired of COD.

GET UP ON THAT NEW PIFF PEOPLE MEDAL OF HONOR X BATTLE FIELD.

Cod Vietnam will be WoW with alternate Maps lol.

JsonHenry5373d ago

Battlefield Vietnam is one of the best in the series, so maybe this will be the next great thing!

BattleAxe5373d ago

Loved CoD: WaW and I know I'll CoD: Vietnam. A CoD game based in the Cold War could be cool too.

ReservoirDog3165373d ago

As long as it doesn't have the horrible story like mw2, I'm sure it'll be good.

The story in CoD4 was perfect in all ways. Perfect for people who just want to blow stuff up and shoot everything that moves and perfect who want an emotional experience to a degree that's never been done in games (and arguably books and film).

The story in mw2 though, was a huge let down. Unbelievable situations, ruined old characters, overblown drama. Bleh.

I'll get this though if it actually has a good story.

randomwiz5373d ago

no one does a vietnam game because the US lost it, and also because during that time, the US soldiers were looked down upon by the US people. But I didn't expect 95% of the people on n4g to know that.

Wait wait... am i missing something... when did COD6 come out?(no, WaW is not COD5, no MW2 is not COD6!!!)

Government Cheese5373d ago

I hope there are a lot of references to FULL METAL JACKET

ReservoirDog3165373d ago (Edited 5373d ago )

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that the US lost. At least, everyone should.

But that can be a good angle to use in the game's story. It has the potential to be powerful. Let's just see if it does it though.

edit: And you're looking into it waaaay too much if you don't consider W@W CoD5 and mw2 CoD6. If not, what are they? Spin-offs? Nope.

gaminoz5373d ago

Boring. We've done the jungle thing already thanks...move on. Also there's been several Vietnam games in the last couple gens.

I still think a UN game which follows several campaigns in different hotspots where peacekeepers have been used would be cool.

Vietnam is a good place to set COD in. Make a change from WW2.

rambi805373d ago

Wonder if we get a mission spraying Agent Orange??

Mista T5373d ago (Edited 5373d ago )

Treyarch now has a chance to pass Infinity Ward because of the debacle known as Mw2

hopefully the single player campaign will be about real life stories from real solders who experienced Vietnam

theunknown5373d ago

Never been the case for any COD games; also, very doubtful you'd want to your avatar to be an actual person who, surely, didn't single handily fight off 'Cong in the tunnels, who a damn good sentry gunner and a master of all trades (expertly using Assault rifles, shotguns, sniper-rifles, flamethrowers, you name it), and survived (and majorly kicked ass) every major battle 'Nam had to offer.

Dtoxz5373d ago

I'd love to see a vienam game. They should be able to pull it off. It should be similar to MW2 in perks and killstreak rewards only. I don't mean calling in PaveLows but more like having customizable killstreaks and such.
I think they should make a stand alone zombie game too. That would be great!

SSCOOLCHEA5373d ago (Edited 5373d ago )

didn't call of duty just come out and there already talking about 7 ..couldn't these azz clown make it into a DLC . really ? how big is freakin vietnam , its the size of freakin floriduh

Mista T5373d ago

Fail

Treyarch would make this and are the ones who made World at War

Infinity Ward made MW2

Black ops 4, because it was the last cod of duty I was able to dominate with a +2 k/d ratio. Before all the freaking cheating started to happen. It was nice catching people off guard and shooting at them first and getting the kill. Unlike now, where I shoot people first, but they gun me down with less hits, less time, literally feels like they can kill me in a split second. At times, they are able to run away after me shooting them way more than necessary, yet, the second I'm spotted, I'm dead, there's no me running away to cover. They can do cartwheels, summersaults, backflips and gun you down perfectly. They can shoot you across the map with perfect accuracy. They can jump around like morons and gun you down without even having to correct their aim. They have superman split second perfect reactions. That's the best way to describe it, everything they do is spot on perfect. They can spam and spray (no praying) their gun from far away, because they have no recoil or bullet spread. It always feels like I have to aim and also correct my aim when moving around, while these pricks don't have to do the same.

And yes, I know how to play fps games. I dominated many fps games like: Resistance 1&2, kz 2&3, Socom, MAG, Crysis, Gotham City Impostors, blitz brigade etc. all with 2-4 k/d ratio. Kz2 (lag input controls) and resistance (no aim assist in resistance) being the hardest and were the games I reached either close to a 3 k/d ratio or above.

I truly got to enjoy blacks ops 4 and got my money's worth out of it. Afterwords, I would either stop playing cod games after a while, because of the cheating, or would skip buying cod games for a year or two before buying another.

Black Ops 1 Nuketown versus Cold War Nuketown '84

From DownSights: "Black Ops is not Black Ops without Nuketown. Following the tradition of releasing Nuketown for Black Ops games, the new Black Ops Cold War game also offers a revamped Nuketown called Nuketown '84.

Nuketown '84 has the same dimensions and map layout except for the aesthetics. The map's aesthetics have changed to fit the 80s theme, with destroyed buildings and graffiti-filled walls compared to a clean 50s suburban neighborhood seen in Black Ops 1."
