First entry in that article should read Assassin's Creed, not Assassin's Creed II. Also, the PC version has more content than the console versions as it was released later.

It is priced at $49.99. From other articles I read, the game is more linear so probably like Mafia 1 and 2 instead of 3 (full open world). I am guessing around 10-12 hours.

Too many massive open worlds this is refreshing. Concentrate on a more dynamic smaller area.

Open is good, too open where you easily get lost.. nah. Unfortunately even Nintendo has got a taste of open world and want to make huge deserts now, this is why I prefer Mario 3D Land and World, open enough for some exploration and alternate paths but not desolate either.
