El33tonline Review: WipEout HD Fury

El33tonline writes:

"Playing WipEout HD Fury was an extremely nostalgic affair, reminding me of the heady days of the original PlayStation and my very first experience with that console in WipEout XL/2097, the second ever entry to the futuristic anti-gravity racing series that has seen a limited number of sequels over the years after its release.

I've since revisited XL/2097 a few times to get a dose of what is always a pulse-pounding and exhilarating racing experience, which entails hurtling through winding tubes and concave tracks under the glare of neon signs, arching neo metropolis buildings and bizarre structures, which at the time certainly caught my imagination and suggested a fully fleshed out living world just beyond the confines of the twisting race courses, extreme speeds and deadly weaponry of the game's proposed futuristic 'sport.'

Time has not been good to XL/2097 in the graphics department, though, so I was definitely excited when I got the opportunity to revisit one of my formative gaming experiences with WipEout HD Fury, which promised to not only retain what I loved about the franchise in the first place, but also present itself in full, shiny, glamorous high definition graphics and contain tons of new content with both the original WipEout HD and the new Fury expansion included in the package."

corroios2543d ago

Damn, the rez and textures its huge. The image is so Sharp!!!! and this game was already very good on the Ps3

bouzebbal2542d ago

Was 1080p 60fps on ps3.
This isn't just a resolution bump it's a complete rework.

First thing I'll do is beast zico on anulpha pass..

Teflon022542d ago

Only a real WipEout fan would say such a thing lol

bouzebbal2542d ago

only a WipEout fan would understand what another fan would say!
My love for this series started on Saturn.. A couple decades back ;)

Teflon022541d ago

My first one was I think WipEout on n64, I sucked then I played it on ps1 i think and eventually learned how to play lol. From that it was Hd on ps3 and then every WipEout release from then on I got. I went back and played the older ones I missed on emulation lol. I love this series, I really hope they'll make a entirely new game on ps4 after this.

Zone Zeus 🏆 , trying to hit zone 75!
Broke two controllers and still was unable to get that 🏆

bouzebbal2541d ago

Lol you made it even harder on yourself with a broken controller..
Zeus requires focus.
I platinumed HD and I wanna do the same with omega.
I couldn't platinum 2048 because they erased all my online progress I was so pissed. Got all arcade gold medals and made it pretty far in online.

10 Of The Greatest Game OST's Ever

TGH Writes: "A soundtrack is what brings the game to life and fills it with memories, it’s also what separates an average game from a great game. You won’t see any must-play titles having lacklustre soundtracks, it’s all integral to the experience.

So, without further ado, here are my top 10 video game soundtracks – and I can promise you that it’s not just your generic list of games you see on everybody else’s top 10."

... and no Lost Eden!? What!?!?

3-4-53913d ago

Title says 10 of, not THE 10 best.

These are just 10 of the 200 good OST's out there.

DeFFeR3913d ago

No, the author writes:

"here are my top 10 video game soundtracks"

Clearly the author is drunk.

3-4-53913d ago (Edited 3913d ago )

I see, but the title and what he writes reflect two different opinions/facts/statements.

You may be onto something with your "Drunk" theory. lol

That being said, my top 10, would have to be a top 100.

There are way too many OST's I've heard since the late 80's early 90's to just only have 10 favorites.

CaptainYesterday3913d ago

I agree with all of these I would also add Metal Gear Rising :)

ferelinstincts3913d ago

No MGS?!?! Lol :(

All opinions tho. :)

Tontus3913d ago

God of War series, Alan Wake, Mass Effect series, Bioshock series, Oddworld AO & AE, Castlevania: LoS, Oblivion, Fable 1 & 2, Deus Ex: HR have my favourite OST's.

pandehz3913d ago

Was just about to type most of those.

Instead we have some very odd songs which are mediocre technically. Of course taste is subjective to the author.
