Sev5251d ago

I love Final Fantasy games, but what I played of Dissidia wasn't that enjoyable.

NateNater5251d ago

Whats so bad about Dissidia? I haven't tried it yet but why don't you like it?

Sev5251d ago

I noticed your comment below too.

Crisis Core is good.

Dissidia well the controls are awkward, and the levels are so large and open you spend a lot of time chasing your opponent.

Seemed more like something Square Enix threw together to make a quick buck off Japanese gamers.

NateNater5251d ago

Thanks for the info
Have some bubbles :)

mastiffchild5251d ago

GOT to disagree with you on Dissidia , Sev fella-though I do agree that CC was a great game and one I reccommend to anyone whether they played FF7 or not(unless they're hyper sensitive and very anal about ANY little changes made in Midgar!). I think Dissidia controls just fine and the larger enviroments make it feel closer to SE's other games than it otherwise might and keeps it's distance, wisely, from other fighting games into the bargain-and if a little chasing is the price I didn't mind at all. I thought it was a fabulous game and would like a bigger, bolder PS3 version one day! What I will say, mind, is that some of Nomura's character model revisions might upset a few people when their favourites from FFs gone by look a little different than they remember. It could jar a little and take you out of the game for a while-but I guess Nomura has to imagine the overall aesthetic of the game and, for that reason, changed some iconic characters around(well, in most cases, put more belts and zips on them!)which,. given the wailing over some minor changes made to the FF7 gameworld for CC could be an issue to a few FF stalwarts.

Otherwise I've had a great year with my PSP with Motorstorm, Retribution, SO and others giving the handheld a great warmup for my winter of Dissidia and GTPSP.

NateNater5251d ago

Is Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core any good? I just got another psp after my first one broke and have been wanting to get this game.

Nice list btw. I'll have to pick up a lot of these. Especially GOW:COO.

mastiffchild5251d ago

Yes. Great game and my personal fave PSP game alongside CoO and, possibly seeing how I've stopped playing anything else these days on my PSP, GTPSP(massively underscored at review, imo, and prolly because it takes a good while to get the very best out of it which is something which hurts a lot of great games with longer learning curves these days with so many games to review for media types leaving them little time to even get a feel of deeper games I fear).

Anyway, dexcent list but nowhere near explaining just how good the PSP library has become nowadays after 18months of long overdue support-plus the number of decent to great jrpgs on the system is nothuing to be sneezed at and more is promised with both FF13 Agito and TTB from SE and VC2 from Sega later in 2010.

Oh, J&D were a pleasant returning sight for me as well this year and I haven't yet got round to trying LBPPSP yet. certainly, imo, the stories knocking the library and the sales of the PSP are totally out of date these days and Sony must feel they've done well to eat into the handheld market to the extent they have while Ninty and the DSes have been so dominant for so long and even grow themselves to this day. If you'd offered Sony 55million PSPs sold by this time when it launched they'd have taken it I'm sure! That's a lot of gamers right there. PSP2 should be pretty special, imo, and will finally stop the incessant whining for the second analogue!

Cajun Chicken5251d ago

No love for Jak and Daxter :(

shadow27975251d ago

No love for a lot of great games. Don't worry, this is a list of the most popular, not the best.

Resistance, Syphon Filter, MGS: PO, Loco Roco, LBP, etc. are all missing from the list.

decimalator5251d ago

I have yet to play my copy of FF7:CC, I got it on UMD and then got a PSPgo, but then the UMD drive in my PSP-1000 died. Alas.

stb5250d ago (Edited 5250d ago )

saying this for promoting CF or so, but if it really died then go home-brew with that 1000 series psp, the best option, and regarding you having the dissidia final fantasy in a umd...it wouldnt hurt no one to download it from somewhere..AND PLIS SONY, if the psp2 is coming i would love to no see umd drive in it, it is just annoying to think that it will die, would love better a psp with cartridge. since drive in d psp or in a handheld just conclude it to die sooner than later IMO, mine did with three year of use and dud that isnt mean to happen to a handheld lol but well there is psp go but if there at least were the option to buy the cartridge like d ds it would be badass. but just left wait.

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow4d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1823d ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie3d ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere2d ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

OtterX3d ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Cockney2d ago

They chose well, Sony gave them the backing to pursue their dreams with no restrictions even tho their games especially dreams have very niche appeal. Media molecule and Sony deserve respect for this in an age of risk averse publishing.

RNTody3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno3d ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno3d ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

3d ago
fsfsxii3d ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno3d ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?

I would kill to have a Way of the Samurai game with a huge budget and modern tech... The first game was one of my greatest joys on PS2 back in the day. And I really hope From Software will do something with Tenchu... I hate that they're just sitting on the IP like it doesn't even exist.

Relientk7732d ago

Don't play with my feelings like that.

Also, new Tenchu please!

TheColbertinator31d ago

Tenchu would be superb in this day and age. Ninja and samurai games are hot right now and more is better.

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens5234d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK212134d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

MrNinosan34d ago

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens5234d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens5234d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Barlos35d ago

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani34d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum35d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman35d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim35d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

I disagree Batman
