Square Boss Puts Faith in Handhelds

Square Enix chief executive Yoichi Wada says that changing consumer demographics are forcing developers to reajust their strategies to cater to the handheld market at the expense of high-spec home consoles.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Wada said that the company’s decision to release Dragon Quest IX, previously set to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive, only on the Nintendo DS was purely based on economics and a belief that handheld consoles are due dominate hardware sales this year.
