BeefJack: Five Fighting Games We Shouldn’t Have Overlooked
BeefJack writes: Fighting games are a genre that has seen its fair share of ups and downs. The early to mid nineties saw a massive boost in popularity of the genre, something most place solely at the doorstep of Street Fighter II. What followed was the birth of some of the most popular and highly acclaimed titles we still play today: King of Fighters, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, and Virtua Fighter.
The turn of the century saw a steady decrease in mass market popularity for fighters, and only now are gamers opening up their arms to old favourites. King of Fighters is back and looking better than ever, and Street Fighter has left a dent in gamer’s hearts that won’t be replaced anytime soon. Mortal Kombat saw the Dark Knight face off against Superman. Then Tekken and the proud Virtua Fighter recent entries sport probably the best incarnations in their franchises.
