You see, a PS3 owner like me can already tell between the two. After games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2, graphics that are unmatched is just another PS3 exclusive.

Heavy Rain already looks to have the best in-game graphics in 2010. This game will be full of adventure with a twisted story that will grip you in and never let go. I love games like this and that is the reason why i'm only buying Alan Wake for the 360 in 2010. Like i keep saying "M$ never had a chance". There will always be a ps3 game that outshines the rest.

I can see it now, "Best graphics of 2010 goes to=Heavy Rain" and "GOTY 2010 goes to=GOW3/The Last Guardian".

i think the best part was MW2 not getting the VGA awards. that was a total shock to me and many others.

Everything you see is in game. It just looks THAT good. I've played it in gamescom this summer, both demos. When I started playing I thought I was watching cgi cutseens and when the choices of what to do next appeared on screen, my jaw literally dropped...

The above picture for example is pure gameplay and I've played it. It's just UNBELIEVABLY good. Gameplay-wise the game sucks you in it's world, I couldn't stop playing just to see what happens next. I also played each demo twice, doing things different each time and the story unfolded differently with each playthrough. The whole experience was as compelling as it gets and I just couldn't believe the graphics.
You have to see it to believe it, easily one of my most anticipated games of 2010

If I had only 60bucks to spend of gaming in February, why on earth would I give my money to a game that's a copy n' paste of a last gen game instead of this game that's a new IP trying to push gaming boundries for my entertainment.

Something is seriously messed up with the gaming community if we support the likes of Dante's Inferno over Heavy Rain. It is impossible to believe anyone would be stupid enough to DI over Heavy Rain.

Now if you have enough money for HR and DI and others for the month then that's all good but if you can only purchase one game in February, as a PS3 gamer, I don't understand how it can't be Heavy Rain.

Support developers that are trying to bring us more varied, diverse experiences that hopefully bring us even much better new gaming in the future not copy n' paste rehashes.

I disagree. I'm really disapointed with its lack of atmosphere. The lighting often seem off somehow and the lack of depth of field is really starting to bug me.

Like that shot with the guy driving the car with his son in the back seat. Look how everything in that car is in perfect focus, it's just wrong and your brain subconciously notices it.

Thats just motion blur, and it looks terrible as a still frame.

Look at the small heads in the background, some of them are LESS blurry than those near the character (who is the main focus subject).

It has no color. It's too brown. It's too black. It's too colorful.

See, this is the crap the PS3 community have had to deal with this gen.

PS3 exclusives have to go beyond anything ever seen before to hope to get a 8.9 but hey, bayonetta is FUN so 9.8 it is. Other games just have to be "fun" and it's easy street to 9 ratings but PS3 exclusives that push graphics, push gameplay, push new experiences and push new IPs "meh, teh lighting on that rain drop in the distance was meh so have a 8.8. A number of incredible new PS3 exclusive IPs have been denied sequels from it's fanbase cause editorial reviewers nic pic the f* out of them and encourage people not to support them but so many average games have sold well and gotten sequels cause they were high profile multiplatform games.

You tell me, you think Gametrailers and gamespot would have given Assasin's Creed1 9/10s if it was a PS3 exclusive?

From a technical standpoint Heavy Rain is obviously amazing. From the gameplay side though, I'm not too sure. It looks great and has the potential to be an amazing game; but Adventure games are a niche genre and don't cater to all gaming audience, Indigo Prophecy ( same creators of this game) didn't sell well, even after being a critical darling. As long as they don't go too heavy into the stupid pressing-buttons-in-order of events to give the player amounts of choices.

I think this game just moved up on my game list for next year. I was thinking about just getting it from gamefly, but I can not ignore it any longer. Heavy Rain is now a day 1 buy. Those are some great screens these guys did a great job with character models. I have mad respect for them. From there track record on games I believe this will be one of the best games of 2010.

In Alan wake you have an immediate NPC secondary Xter right next to Alan Wake. You look at him and his clothing is glaringly low rez, his face is bland and his hair is a glob of matted graphics. You shine a light right in his face and he doesn't even animate to flinch away, yet, this is "TEH BES GRAPHICS EVA!!!! KZ2 PWNED!"

But you see Heavy Rain where multiple NPC secondary Xters are rockin just as high quality texturing as the main focused Xter and you go "meh, the fruit that's 10meters away from the Xter is 2D"

Tell you what, go take a real live picture of a grocery store and have the fruit section 10meters away from your main focused shot up front, guess what, it'll look 2D to and that's REAL LIFE.

The only thing I really hate about this game is the environment textures and the clothing textures but apart from that the skin already looks amazingly real.

Here's what I mean http://psnow.es/uploads/ima... take a look at the kids clothing, the mans clothing and the people at the back and notice how the creases on their cloths look like they're painted on.

I don't know if there's a such thing as Dynamic cloth simulation or something but nearly every game has this problem and someone needs to make a new cloth simulation engine. In that 4D KZ2 demo that was available on the PSN one of the devs who worked on KZ2 said that the updated KZ2 engine will be able to simulate cloth rubbing against cloth and it'll be able to simulate how the cloths on the characters react with the wind and environments in real-time.

In real life the same crease doesn't form twice in the same spot so I really hope GG can sought this problem out with their new engine so then they can share it with the other devs.

OK, now that you've said this is a BIG problem, now go look at the trailer of Alan Wake. The one where he's talking to his friend in a Red parker jacket.

That scene is in an enclosed environment in a cabin with the Xter right next to you but the HR pic you're talking about is on Xters in an outside environment that are in the background.

Now look how the Red parker Xter in AW has his shirt in obviously very low rez image, like it's painted on in 2d and it's a bit washed out. Now look at his hair. He's right next to Alan but his hair isn't stranded but a glob.

If you're going to nic pic the texturing of back ground Xters on HR then I'm sure an even worse rendition on AI must drive you crazy too. It does't matter though, look at KZ2, the very best looking FPS on any console ever and people still nic pic at it. Go look at enemy Xters in the distance on ODST is see an absolute mess of texturing but hey, it's all good though as long as it's not a PS3 exclusive. Those have to be 100% perfect then we'll give a 92% rating.

Sorry Ali but Uncharted 2 cut scenes look pretty much this good but the other two games not so much. Gta 4 graphics suck and gameplay gets crazy boring and Assassin's Creed 2 has more pop in and screen tear than pretty much any other game ever made, although it still looks decent.

What you are saying is that this game is too slow for you, which is cool but don't bash it cause it isn't your type of game. you sound like you want the developers to make a different action game to cater to your tastes. There are plenty other games like that that you can buy. I for one can't wait for this game cause I played Indigo Prophecy and if this is like that then I will be more than happy.

Every game can be considered an interactive cutscene so I really don't know what you are trying to get at. However this game actually gives you the chance to choose your own outcome which is more than I can say for most games these days. Hell even in Mass Effect all conversations ultimately lead to the same results.

Amazing screens. Although you have to remember that it's a game that is comprised solely of QTEs, with exception to just getting from point A to point B. So that gives them a lot of room to be more artistic with camera angles, lighting, and camera focus.

Umm I played IP and I seem to remember doing a lot more than just pressing the buttons in that game. The story was actually great, which is more than I can say for most games this gen, abeit the ending fell short a bit.

So now if you have to press a button to interact with something in the game it's considered QTE right? Every game needs to press a button to interact tool! What about when you need to press a button to open a door, or press a button to shoot a gun? Is that considered QTE now? I can argue that COD MW2 is nothing but a massive loads of QTE with the exception of travel time from point a to b and guess what according to your standards it would be true.

COD is as close to a rail shooter as you will ever get without it being one. The difference is it's been done a million times before. Heavy Rain is trying to doing something extremely rare in the industry today and all you fools rush to say it's just QTE without thinking. Give it a break already. You don't like GTFO and go buy another game.

From a technical standpoint, it's just like comparing Gran Turismo to Crysis. You can't compare a game to Crysis unless it is a huge open world with explosions and lush environments.

The only thing impressive about this game are the character models, nothing else. And btw, Crysis graphics are 10x better than Heavy Rain graphics. Look at the ground textures in the park. Look at any textures in Crysis.

Dam you commenters getting me all happy to look at these screenshots!

The Environments in this game look ripped straight from a Ps2 game...seriously looks like all attention went to the faces and yet they still don't look good.

If this was on 360 it'd get that "If it was exclusive on Ps3 it would look better" treatment.......how can you not say that this game looks a step backwards looking at the track record of Ps3 exclusives????

I wasn't being a troll and I'm known as a PS3 fanboy yet some idiots here say I'm a 360 fanboy. How blind do you have to not see the bad cloth textures and environment detail? and the fruits in that store scene are definitely 2D. Some things just don't look right and I think they could have done better and hopefully they read these poor textures I picked out so that whenever they plan on making HV2 they can fix it and make it look even more realistic and 'authentic' at the same time.

I'm not trying to troll but sometimes nit picking is good for a game that wants to imitate real-life and for the devs as well because it forces them to improve, just go and look at how much nit picking the members on the GTPlanet forums do and WHY? because GT5 aims to imitate real-life and Yamauchi likes being pushed to make GT5 even more realistic.

As I said before the Skin looks real enough to fool someone but everything else needs fixing that's all I'm saying and from now on I won't comment in a HV article until it releases.

Like I said previously a while a go, Heavy Rain has the best looking character models in any game on any system including PC.
