With video games becoming more and more main-stream, is it possible that the creative output of the gaming industry will suffer? That's a debate that requires some serious contemplation. It is the sort of debate held by business analysts that bore you with bar graphs and statistical analysis of financial successes regarding proven formulas. Screw that, let's just be super critical and make fun of the developers. Off we go

Older gamers know that fanboyism wasn't nearly as rampant back in the day as it is now though. I think this is because the internet gives every fanboy a voice as well as provide an easy outlet to spread his/her opinions.

I find it funny how those that chose to poke fun at those who decided to take the plunge into a defective product(the 360) early on, are considered fanboys.

Wii - Haven't gotten it because nothing appeals to me yet.

360 - Has lots of games but I'm not purchasing it until M$ gets their sh1t straightened out, and quits shafting their customers. I'm also pissed at how they abandoned the original xbox that I enjoyed so much.

PS3 - Hardly no games, but I picked it up because of the PSP connectivity and HD movies, not to mention it's multi-funtionalities.

i agree, i find all this fanboy stuff here for amusement purposes. I make fun of my friend cause he has a ps3. But its in good fun, i like to call it the 700 dollar door stop. But lord knows when it drops its price. i'm gonna purchase one.
Its the people who take these things way to seriously. Reminds me of myspace gangsters. talks all the garbage and all big. online. but is nothing like that in real life. just funny.
Personally. I agree with what assessment of the system.

I have the Wii - i didnt buy it. i hardly play it. I am just waiting for resident evil, and a couple others.
I have the 360 - that i am always on. movies, with the hd-dvd add-on. games, arcades. i havent found a thing wrong with it. I got mine a couple months after the first christmas it was out.
ps3 - just too damn expensive. i might as well buy a blu-ray player. especially since it looks like it will be dominant. But when the price is lowered and more games come out that i like. I will be picking it up.

i don't like it when fanboys don't like hearing good news about other systems. they have to look down every piece of news - regardless of whether it is good or bad. progress is through competition. if microsoft comes up with something sony doesn't have then this is a good thing since it means that sony will copy it. likewise if sony comes up with something that ms doesn't have.

competition is what makes the game industry great and helps keep prices low for everyone. competition only benefits the consumers. companies hate competition and if you are against competition then you are all for getting ripped-off and lack of innovation.

yeah but look at ninentdo. on life support after the dropoff of the gamecube. the N64 was okay, not great. it was mariokart64 and golden Eye that really saved it. And the gamecube was barely pulsing. though it had a handful of good games.
And now look instead of adding crazy amount to the price they add crazy controls, and brings videogames back to when i remember it. with Atari 2600 nes and the genesis. Really fun games. or the potential for fun, new, and interesting games.

just make 1 game together. a huge, cross platform, martial arts game where PS3 owners can battle 360 owners. no guns, just swords, nunchucks, staffs, ect. maintain the servers for 1 year with the "winning" side able to claim supreme console victory. of course with fabulous game show prizes.

playable from either system. people that own both consoles like me could turn the tide by switching their allegiance to 1 console or the other. i can't wait to see all of the backstabbing when it appears 1 side will "lose".
