Gamezebo writes: "With the last installment of Casebook (Casebook Episode II: The Watcher) we were left hanging as a murderer got away with his terrible crime. Now, Burton's back on the trail in Casebook Episode III: Snake in the Grass as you accompany him to follow the murderer to his new life. But will Burton succeed in catching him red-handed and proving that he's really the killer he is, or will he get away yet again?"
Diehard GameFAN writes: "So, back in March we reviewed Casebook Episode 1: Kidnapped and Casebook Episode 2: The Watcher. The first game showed a lot of solid promise, and while it wasn't about to set the world on fire with renewed interest in full-motion video style games, it was a good effort that was fun and entertaining. The second game… was mostly the same game, with some minor gameplay tweaks and a less believable storyline attached. The second game's story issues, it seems, were meant to set the stage for the third game, Snake In the Grass, to give the player a nemesis to face and some cohesion between the second and third episodes instead of making the games feel like they completely stood alone."
All in all, ACG has found Casebook Episode III: Snake in the Grass very interesting and well worth their time. The story, characters, and dialog are all top notch and professionally done. The game is also paced quite well, and the grand finale is well worth the effort it takes to see it.
In the same manner that the previous two installments offered, Casebook: Episode III - Snake in the Grass uses a unique gameplay technique to deliver the visuals on-screen. By using what appear to be sequences of real photos, the game allows you to walk around small environments that are quite photo-realistic. The only exception is that the ceilings/roofs of the environments are done in 3D, and it is unfortunately obvious.
