Gameplay is always important...but this mod needs some better graphics

tdrules5624d ago

wait wat?
graphics is largely machine dependent, and that looks a lot better than the console version haha

MGRogue20175624d ago

I go to the page & I see a fish swimming from one side of the page to the other but nothing?!?

I want to see the video! :D

TheIneffableBob5624d ago

Well, obviously the mod isn't complete. It looks bland because the lighting hasn't been put in place yet.

shazui1235624d ago

the graphical difference between MW1 and MW2 is tiny, I couldnt tell from the video which game it was from. Wish theyd spent more time with the graphics and story on this COD. The online is fun but then again so was the first one's.

Fishy Fingers5624d ago (Edited 5624d ago )

Rubbish, the same map in MW2 looks far better than this mod. FAR.

mrv3215624d ago

You do realise it's in beta and as such the textures will be improved, and more detail added. I wish people would stop treating a ALPHA/BETA as an actual game.

shazui1235624d ago (Edited 5624d ago )

no. No it doesnt. At all. Theyve churned out MW2 with the same gfx engine as the last and the improvement is very very slight. You cant lie to yourself about that

@ Fishy
you obviously havent played it yet. I was one of the first to play it. Torrented it a few days before release. Tried to complete it, got bored of the repetetiveness and the similarities with the first. Plus Id been playing a lot of UC2 and the graphical difference made MW2 look just plain ugly to me. Had the gfx cranked all the way up to 1080p 4xaa extra detail textures e.t.c the graphics are underwhelming dude, sorry if ur a diehard fan but its true

Its not so much that its the same engine, its that they hadnt optimised the engine much hence no real technical or graphical improvements to any great extent. To continue with my Uncharted 2 example, there you go. Same engine, much better graphics, probably the best graphics of any game this year. So it can be done

Fishy Fingers5624d ago (Edited 5624d ago )

You obviously havent played it then. There is no comparison between this mod (finished or not) and Modern Warfare 2.

Then, it's cool to hate on MW2 right now, justified or not I guess.

Question: Name a sequel, that released during the same gen that used a different engine to it's predecessor?

mrv3215624d ago

Isn't Halo Reach using a different engine?

Resistance 2 is also a possipility consider the stark greaphical differences.

Fishy Fingers5624d ago (Edited 5624d ago )

Halo uses the same engine.

Resistance 1 and 2 use Version 1 and 2 of the same engine respectively.

Advancements are always made of course, but 99% of the time a sequel will use the same core engine.

mrv3215624d ago

Halo: Reach is supposedly using a different engine, don't you think this is a bit unfair since this generation is only 4 years old.

Why don't we look at the COD series then. COD 2 xbox 360. COD 6 xbox 360 different engines.

Look at lots of PS2 games and they'll be using different genertations.

Give it 3 or 4 years and you'll see a massive change. Most games will be on different engines.

Fishy Fingers5624d ago (Edited 5624d ago )

Reach will be the first game running a new engine. ODST was the same.

Of course, in several years you'll likely see sequels using a different engine, but thats beside the point, here and now in the gen as of yet it's extremely rare. Plus the reason I brought it up was because people use it as a way to belittle MW2, when as of yet all sequels/developers this gen have done the same thing. Some with more difference than others, but thats irrelevant.

mrv3215624d ago

'Name a sequel, that released during the same gen that used a different engine to it's predecessor?'

I named a sequel with a different engine. You then said it was rare.

And why can't I belittle COD 6? It has it's flaws, it's not perfect, no game is. By belittling such games we push gaming forward.

That's irrelevant? What comparing two COD with other sequels, how is that irrelevant? COD 6 isn't a big leap over COD 4.

Knghtz5624d ago

Wow if you can't tell the difference between this and the MW2 version you should get your eyes checked.

They should do a better map though like Skidrow, Invasion, or Rundown :p

Teh Cell5624d ago (Edited 5624d ago )

"Wow if you can't tell the difference between this and the MW2 version you should get your eyes checked."

I agree. Maybe COD4 and MW2 are the same on a pc with everything cranked to the max...on my xbox the difference is pretty big in multiplayer.

Eh... I dont remember COD4 looking so plan, perhaps is just the mod but it all looks very blank. Look's like Counter Strike.

GamerSciz5624d ago

I am still choosing not to get MW2...MW had fun gameplay but people like this ruined it.

i like how people are complaining over a community made entity that is completely free of charge.
i myself cannot wait to play and give it a shot, graphics dont make a game for me never have, hence why I love Quake Live and am personally not a fan of a brown bloom filled nothingness this gen

Will be interesting to see what sort of numbers GP users draw in come tomorrow. It is believed that this is one many have been waiting for.

Darth,

That is not accurate; this game is old, and most people who want it have already bought it. You might get a small number of subs, but we will mostly see a good influx of players(not new subs) from people with Game Pass who will try it, which is what happened with D4.

CoD: BO 6 will be the test for actual sub numbers.

darthv72274d ago

That's fair... seeing as many have been saying they want CoD in GP. My comment was more of , now that its here... what can it do. Im sure there will be other titles in the franchise that will either entice or turn off different users.

Bathyj274d ago

No one's buying a console and signing up for a monthly bill just to get this game to avoid buying it. That's ridiculous. Besides everyone bagged the crap out of this on release for the 4 hour campaign.

andy85274d ago

Sweet. Never got round to it on release. I'll give the campaign a go

chicken_in_the_corn273d ago

Severly underrated game. Big improvement over 2.

Why MW 2019 is still the best looking Call of Duty to date

MW 2019 is five years old at this point and on previous gen hardware, but it is still the best looking Call of Duty game to date.

MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.

That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.

I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.
