Ubisoft is not satisfied with the sales of both the Ps3 and Xbox360

In an online interview done by spiegel.de , Ubisoft have revealed that they are not impressed by the sales of both the ps3 and the xbox360.Ubisoft also revealed that "Sony should calculate the price new soon, if they want to sell satisfying number of devices in this year still another. Microsoft by the way also."

I know everyone is telling UBI to shut up but it's not only 1 or 2 blockbuster games that sell consoles. Price is a big factor, yet people just think about a couple of games.

Not many games are system sellers, especially new IP's, nobody knows how they will fare.

Usually 2nd renditions can be system sellers because of the amount of hype after the first game.(if the game happens to be really good)
Only time can tell if sales will pick up and if strategies will change.

I know, i know, that was some really @ssholey-ish sh!t to say, but seriously. But what you said was actually pretty good. Btw, I also have my friends Wii here, and i gotta say that the controller feels really good, its just that none of the games l've played really use it well (except Wii sports, and even that is not perfect). It could be so much better. And they really need to do something about the graphics. I mean, it doesnt have to look as good as the big boys, but at least look better than the GC, PS2 and Xbox version, after all, it should at least be capable of doing that. But then again, it may not really be able to outperform the Xbox or at least not in all areas. I personally would really like to see them all do well.

I expect them to not be satisfied with sales. they make games so they are only happy if the Systems sales are extremely high so they can make more money like the PS2 system sales. Thats why sony will keep the PS2 around because of the install base and some people just won't spend over $200 for a console so either way they can make money and give developers a choice to go next gen or last gen with games they make. Next gen games cost too much to make to not sell good.

The problem with ubi is that most of their games are not AAA. They need a very large intallbase if they want to make some serious money. Ubi needs an installbase of a least 40 Million to break even on their worst IPs. How come companies like Epic arent complaining? AAA titles do not need a huge installbase Ubi does.
Besides they shouldnt be complaining... the wii installbase does not translate to highter game sells. Most people buying the wii buy only 1-2 games are those games are from nintendo. Some only purchased the wii to play wii sport.

Who gives a crap what Ubisoft thinks. I bought my PS3 this past Saturday along with an 42" Samsung 1080p HDtv, and I love it. I can't believe I waited this long to get one. Man that 1.80 firware is the sh1t, and so is the PSN. I also bought a PSP not too long ago. The PS3 is very user friendly. The fuking machine is really capable of anything. I've downloaded a bunch of demos, and I must say, for anyone who thinks that Ninja Gaiden Sigma is the same game as it was on the xbox, well they're just plain WRONG. That game is seriously for the skilled, and there are a ton of new things too.

Ubi does make some solid-great titles. The problem is they've always had a problem porting to the PS3. And here in now lies the problem. The 360 has essentially been the lead build for a lot of Ubisoft's games lately. Even ditching PC builds in favor of 360 as the lead console. But their inadequacy to port isn't nothing new as it took them a good 2 or 3 years to start releasing quality ports on the PS2.

That said I think Ubi is doing their best to release quality ports from square one on the PS3. They've now delays Rainbow Six Vegas a total of 7 months. If previews are any indication on how good it will be on PS3 then Ubi will have succeeded. It seems aside from "looser" controls the game is on point for the PS3. GRAW 2 has been pushed back for refining and additional content. The PS3 is the lead build for Haze, and I'm sure Assassin's Creed will deliver on both consoles...

Anyway, enough about Ubi and their games. They do make some solid titles...

My point and remark I want to make is good for them (Ubi). It's about time someone comments that both platforms are doing poorly. Maybe gamers will take that as a hint and start thinking about buying one, or both consoles. There's only so much I'm going to do as an individual and I already have my PS360.

First off you have the 360 at X units sold with an extremely high failure rate (above average) which in turn only raises the number of consoles sold yet cloaks the actual number of it's install base. Because many systems are returned to the store and exchanged thus counting as 2 consoles sold. If a user has exchanged more than one thus X number sold instead of showing only one sold as that's truly what it was. On top of that gamers simply aren't buying these next gen consoles and it's as simple as that. You can argue this or that, but at the end of the day the truth is that sales of both consoles are weak. Again, I can comment on this or that, but it's all hypothetical or opinion. At the end of the day despite numbers continuously climbing both consoles should be selling better than they are. One of the remarks from Sony was dead on, and is something I've been saying for the better portion of the past year or so. Gamers are fickle... That and cheap. Another point I want to make is this fact that the gaming industry has grown exponentially yet it's loyal install base is rather niche. The masses which make up the gaming industry are those who are casual, those who rent games, and those who don't normally buy a console until 3-4 years after it's been on shelves and is only $150-200....

360 has over 14 games that sold over a million copies, some of them even over 2 million.

Like GRAW 1, sold over 2 million if I'm right.

Then, the topseller game, Gears of War sold close to 5 million copies already. The top PS3 game, Resistance, sold 600k copies.

Thus, Ubi, you know where to get the money

is because production costs have increased dramaticly with the transition to next gen gaming...and the profit has only gone down.....
Think about it last gen had an install base of around 150 million(just a guess) with all three last gen systems. With next gen right now....just over 20 million with all three next gen contenders. By the end of next year I don't expect any more PS2 support. So your basicly looking at around a 15%(now, maybe by the end of next year 25%) install base as compared to what it used to be as last gen starts to fade away. Without counting on the install base of PS2 all companies in the industry will suffer severe losses after the transition..and with development costs skyrocketing for 360 and PS3 more games will be released for Wii. I have always thought this would be Nintendo's ace in the hole to get more third party support.....bc it is cheap to develop for(most likely the same as last gen).

Ubisoft for crappy "ports" to PS3 as every 3rd party developer seems to be having these problems. The cell processor is not optimized for gaming. You can look it up anywhere on the net. It is optimized for multimedia applications and Bluray imaging.......DIrect quote from developer
