James Joell-Ireland from wedotech.net writes "Match 3 games are a dime a dozen, some pull it off well, some not so. It's vested in the core of the casual games market and naturally will transition to handheld systems easily, providing short busts of game play, that do not require long session times to get something out of it. So it was with Avanquest Software Publishing that we saw the emergence of 7 Wonders II for the Nintendo DS. As a side, we personally loved the original 7 Wonders and hoped for more addictive Gameplay that the PC bestowed upon us."
If there’s something the eShop and DSiWare store are missing, its match-3 style games, right? Hopefully you said, “NO!!” At least 7 Wonders II adds some remotely unique things to spice of this flooded genre.
7 Wonders 2 is a puzzle game for the 3DS that has you match runes in groups of 3 or more of the same color in order to destroy them. While similar in game play to the popular puzzle game Bejeweled, 7 Wonders 2 still has a lot to offer.
"Just when you thought you've seen everything there is to see when it comes to tile-matching, out comes another game that uses an overarching theme to tie this main system and everything else together in a different way. Sorry to disappoint, but that's not what 7 Wonders II does. This is a game that uses a similar theme to what is present in games belonging to the Cradle series (Cradle of Rome, Cradle of Egypt) and so any hope of this being anything revolutionary can quickly be shot out the window. Still, is this a wonderful match for fans of the genre? Well, maybe not wonderful, but if you take the position of an unrushed tourist -- one who doesn't make it their aim to see all the sights in one sitting -- then this might be worth a look." -- Wiiloveit.com
