I was gonna get a new Elite since I have the orginal 20 GB models but I think I'll wait for the retail release of the 250 GB SKUs. I know they're available in limited editions such as the Forza 3 and Modern Warfare 2 bundles now but you know they'll be replacing the 120 GB SKUs soon.

the drive cannot be read at moment.
taken away the 3rd heatsink as it shouldnt be needed now the console runs so much cooler,also was believed to cause ram failure as the 3rd heatsink was so close to it on the pipe
i have one and its silent when playing from harddrive,even after a 12 hour session the air coming out the back is about as hot as blowing on your hand if that.
still jasper chipset and such.

f/w being worked on now,but this is old news,the 250gb models aint the 1st to have all this in,a standard elite i got was same,anything with manufactor date mid august onwards is like this

i agree. i love my jasper. my dads(im 17) xbox got rrod about 2 monthes ago. microsoft replaced it for free with a brand new yes brand new jasper. cause my dad wrote a letter saying he was going to switch to ps3(not) they throw everything to keep you onboard try it out if it happeneds. i hope not. but yer jaspers should of been the model that released. so finally i can recomend an xbox 360 to people.

i know i will get a disagree for me liking my xbox and not owing a ps3 but i will gladly lose a bubble or 5 to have my say.

My Elite 360 is typically on 14-18 hours a day and it has almost zero heat signature and the exhaust is barely warm. I am very pleased with my personal experience with the 360.

Liking the Xbox 360 isn't a crime. I like my 360, but have had horrible luck with the hardware. If I had your experiences I'd probably still be gaming on my 360, buying all my titles for the 360 and so on but I've been burned too many times to continue to support the 360.

Nobody has issues with people for simply liking the 360. It's a great system, when it's working. I think what people take issue with is when others say "I like the 360 and everyone else who doesn't is dumb" or the opposite with the "like the ps3 and everyone else is dumb." That's the type comments that get spewed out so often, and personally I wouldn't consider those people gamers.

a bad design is a bad design..that is the whole story in the nutshell with the 360.
MS was told they would have a heat problem, this is a fact.
If you dont believe this was a fact, than you are saying MS is more inedpt, in not knowing or testing properly.
Either way the 360 design was the worst in the history of video games.
Another fact...since NO other console ever had such high failure rates AND no other console has gone through so many hardware fixes (NOT IMPROVEMENTS (now a new mother board) mid way through the consoles lifespan

Every console since the 2600 has gone through board revisions more than once/twice. It only serves to cut costs and improve reliability. 360 has been getting better. The design isnt really so bad. They obviously have been going back and changing placement of components that were more prone to issues where they were. If anything, the board revisions are leading to an eventual release of a slimmer less power hungry/heat creating unit.

Three years of warranty is all i need to justify the purchase..
While some may disagree,if something ever goes wrong with it all i have to do is make get red rings and i get a new one.. I know several people who have done that including my brother and they always send a new one in less than two weeks i think of it as a tune up every two years.

sonys fail rate is very Ultra low, thats why, and yellow light comes from abuse of console, it never happens day 1 like 360.

i know only 1 customer at gamecrazy who had a yellow light....while almost every single 360 owner has gone thru multiple 360's some even up to 8 consoles.

if MS didnt put 3 yr warranty they wud be sued even more than they r now.

For the people that want to know what happen I'll try to explain very simple.

First there isn't anything wrong with the 360 design period.

The problem was traced to the fill material being supplied to the company making the GPU. The material kept the heat from escaping normally, causing the GPU support board to warp and break the solder joints.
The Falcon GPU was a redesign and the first ones were made in Canada, these GPUs worked great, the process was moved to the original company using the wrong fill material and you guessed it, the problem returned.
The problem was finally found and correct with the Jasper GPUs.
