ResumePlay: Brutal Legend Review

Brutal Legend is a non-stop ass-kicking, side-splitting game that brings forward innovative gameplay and a land steeped in Metal lore. The Characters are lifelike, and the writing witty, but still funny to the layman. The humor starts to taper off at points, but overall, it's a hysterical experience. The world is the most metal in video game history, and the art direction is simply beautiful.

This game is the embodiment of all things metal, and it rocks harder and louder than any before it. It opens up a whole new subgenre and method of gameplay: a kind of music RPG/RTS. There is almost too much to talk about in this game, and if you really want to know about it, play it. For Metal fans, or even those who are just interested, this is a must-play.

I was happy to find out BL's sold more units than UC2 so far. This game deserves it more than any other this gen. Also to anyone who played the demo and based their view on the game off that, the demo does not do the game justice at all. There's so so much more to the game.

where did you get those numbers. Link please. @Ljwooly

Ahahahahaha, no, you may not have a link because I am an unhelpful douche.

Don't hate cause you don't like a game that involves good music. Go listen to Cher.

White man came across the sea
He brought us pain and misery
He killed our tribes, he killed our creed
He took our game for his own need!

DrPirate5676d ago

We fought him hard we fought him well
Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came too much for cree
Oh will we ever be set free?

Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache

Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why

LJWooly5676d ago

Yo I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,

Riding through dustclouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom a stab in the back
Women and children and cowards attack

RUN TO THE HILLS RUN FOR OUR LIVES!!

We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.

This game...holy heck. Makes me feel old.

gamer78041121d ago

I loved that game. Unlocked every song

MadLad1121d ago

Liked the aesthetic, tone, humor, and action combat.
Didn't care for the RTS elements.

Never cared to finish it.

porkChop1121d ago

Yeah they marketed the game like it was a Heavy Metal GTA-ish adventure. And at the beginning of the game that's what it was. The game fell apart when the half-baked RTS stuff came in. I'd be interested in a reboot or sequel, but just go full action adventure and ditch the RTS. There really is something there with the Heavy Metal theme.

Ryushaa1121d ago

I feel you. I just hacked the game to have infinite life/RTS resources

PS360 gen was special, then again it was still the mid 2000s. Everything went to shite in the teens

mastershredder1121d ago

I think that was the breaker for Doublefine's creative ambitions and their mixing of genres (which was getting kinda stale). It was a nice to look at but it was more of a tribute to the many things Tim loves, was influenced by and has great admiration for....but the forced RTS stuff was like a drinking buddy's "great idea" that never should have come to light. The game seemed a lot more vast, but it ended pretty quickly too. And Jack Black. As much as I don't care for him as an actor (annoying and requires constant attention), this was absolutely made with him in mind and it worked. I mean come on, Tenacious D? For as Metal as this game was trying to be, even comically, it did little more than meow.
