GameSpot: Stoked: Big Air Edition Hands-On

GameSpot writes: "After Shaun White Snowboarding was released to a lukewarm critical reception late last year, it looked like fans of the genre were in line for a disappointing winter. Then February rolled around, bringing with it a relatively obscure game called Stoked courtesy of Austrian developer Bongfish. Suffice it to say, Stoked wasn't a game that was on a whole lot of people's radars, but the finished product garnered quite a bit of critical acclaim for shirking the unnecessary glitz of "extreme" sports games and focusing on the basics of snowboarding. Now Bongfish is working on Stoked: Big Air Edition, an enhanced version of the original that's looking to win over those who passed on the game when it was first released".

PlayDevil: Stoked Big Air Edition Review

Stoked: Big Air edition was released in 2009 in the US- does the game cut it now it has finally been released in Europe?

"There’s plenty to do, and once you get used to the controls, the frustrations lessen a little. Getting 100% is a monumental challenge, and would take a seasoned gamer dozens of hours, so the game presents a great value proposition if you’re up for the challenge and get past the frustrations."

Everybody Plays: Stoked: Big Air Edition Review

Everybody Plays: Way back when, when the Xbox 360 launched in 2005, a game launched alongside it to little or no real reception. That game was called Amped 3. MSXbox - Stoked: Big Air Edition Review

MSXbox - Stoked: Big Air Edition should be entertaining for fans of the genre; as long as they know going in that it's a straight to business snowboarding game without a main hook other than challenges.

For an updated version of a game that came out in 2009, Big Air Edition just doesn't do enough to justify a purchase for those who bought the original Stoked. However, to those who are thinking about buying this game, I would wait as even at the average price of £25 it still feels overpriced for what you get. This title to me is a rent only or a below £15 purchase at most.
