SFX-360: The Warriors: Street Brawl Review

SFX-360 writes: "Let me open this review by saying that if you haven't seen "The Warriors," then you owe it to yourself to run to your local video store and buy the DVD. The 1979 movie is considered one of the greatest cult classics of all time. Even after 30 years, Cyrus's famous line of "Can you dig it!" and hearing the eerie clicking sounds of the beer bottles when Luther says "Warriors, come out to pla-ay!" never gets old. In video game terms, Rockstar's effort in 2005 for the Xbox and Playstation 2 is still considered a favorite amongst fans with it's violent action and great storyline. Now CTXM along with Paramout Digital Entertainment bring us The Warriors: Street Brawl, but sadly this game has us running back to Rockstar's game instead.

The Warriors: Street Brawl is a 2D beat 'em up that puts you right in the movie. You can choose from one of four characters (Swan, Cochise, Rembrandt, and Vermin). Mercy and Ajax are unlockable characters that you can acquire from playing the Story Mode. The game opens up with the infamous gang summit in New York City where Cyrus unveils his plan for the gangs to rule the entire city instead of just their turf. Unfortunately Cyrus is murdered and the blame is falsely put on The Warriors. Now the gang must find a way to escape the city, the cops, and all the rival gangs to get back to their home turf on Coney Island..."

WorthPlaying: The Warriors: Street Brawl Review

WorthPlaying writes: "Back in 2005, Rockstar Games took a chance and made a video game based on the old cult film, "The Warriors." The game was an adventure/beat-'em-up hybrid that took the license and added more background to the film's story while providing plenty of deep gameplay choices to a genre that seemed to be on its deathbed. It was a gritty title that was fairly polished and a ton of fun to play. Sadly, unless you had an early PS3 like the 60 GB or 20 GB configuration, neither of the newer consoles could play the classic game Rockstar had crafted."

PlayDevil: The Warriors: Street Brawl XBLA Review - Better then the original?

PlayDevil has posted a review of the cult classic game, ported to XBLA, "The Warriors: Street Brawl".

Here's a snip:

"Many people will remember the original cult classic street gang movie "The Warriors" which was released in 1979 however what is surprising is that despite it's popularity it seemed to take an age to get it's first video game conversion with the excellent Rockstar release on the original Xbox and Playstation 2 in 2005."
