Sure Sony owns the HS ip, but if this is a hack'n'slash game with that girl, and similar mechanics to HS, then we can consider it to be the spiritual successor of HS... Kinda like how Heavy Rain is the spiritual successor of Fahrenheit...

I hate to say this, but I think all they did was take the scripts they had written for Heavenly Sword 2 and 3 and made this game instead reworking some of the story and gameplay elements.

That's a weak move, but still more Heavenly Sword is a great thing especially now that most of the developers have a pretty good grasp on both consoles.

I read this article last night. This game is Heavenly Sword done better. Sounds like this will be another deep adventure from Ninja Theory.

Still would love to see another Heavenly Sword game, Ninja Theory.

From the looks,it seems they are making a great use of UNREAL ENGINE TECH,on multiplatform contrary of what some trolls were saying wend the game was announce!It sure looks a colourful world game using UE 3, and not just grey's and blacks!

UE3 weakness is NOT the color palette, Bioshock and Batman:AA are good examples of colorful UE3 games, but the shinny textures, blocky characters and poor lightning. UE3 is really outdated and it shows, but I guess it is the best tool to date if you want to have a multiplatform game ready right on schedule.

According to the studio, the project is "exciting new concept that has got everyone we talk to buzzing. We can't say a lot except that it's going to be great to work on and should be even better to play! It'll take all the things we loved about Heavenly Sword and make them bigger and better than ever before."

Good for Ninja Theory to expand it's game development to make a "mark" in the industry. Batman:AA and Bioshock perform excellently on the PS3 and given Ninja Theory's history, I'd say we will have decent looking ports.

Can't wait to see it.

if the gaming media hadn't had such a huge, monumental STICK up their asses in 2007, and didn't RAPE Heavenly Sword just because it was a PS3 exclusive, we'd be getting a sequel to that instead of this game.

i'm mildly, and i do mean MILDLY intrigued, but i'd have loved to see what they could have done with the story of the Heavenly Sword on a 2 years refined Heavenly Sword engine.

now their engine has to be tweaked for DVD9, well, DVD7.5 (for the record, Heavenly Sword was roughly 11-15gigs on Blu Ray).

i think i'll play Heavenly Sword now, just to remind myself of how good it was, and how it was absolutely trashed and nitpicked to, quite literally, death, by the gaming media.

RIP, Heavenly Sword. you could have been a great new franchise in a sea of "me too" fodder.

Gone will be the fluid character animations and unrivaled facial expressions.

This reminds me of the sarcastic name of that Japanese game-studio: "Just add monsters". Seems MS finally got their wish in that regard..

While I don't have the feeling for HS you guts clearly do I still found it a great, if too short, experience. It amazes me that a game like DMC4 got a higher meta acore, though, and I felt the brevity of campaign aside HS main issues were with pacing as overall it didn't seem like it built too much and felt a bit one speed after you got going.

As a first game by NT on PS3 though it was cool and I'd have given it about an 8.5 and had they and Sony stayed on terms a sequel COULD have been amazing as the things they did well SYILL haven't been beaten-some of the facial mo-cap was breathtakingly accurate to the words/voices and the filmic pretentions, though not fully realised still meant some big and impressive vistas and battles to fight in and amongst.

The real loss, for me, is that they didn't get the chance to build on what they'd done and I don't imagine all of what HS had will be that easy to replicate in a multi platform game. We'll see, though, and I'm more than happy to give NT a chance here seeing as they'll have had plenty of time and know the PS3 pretty well unlike many multi plat devs. Nariko is a loss , mind, and I'd have loved to see a real action RPG based on her universe as a sequel of kinds and Sony may farm it out to someone to do just that one day if, as seems the case, so many still hold HS so dear. The extra depth of story available in an RPG would really benefit a cinematic franchise like HS and allow future devs to make a really expansive game for PS3.

A HSgame withall the qualities that implies with the added character development of an RPG and the puzzling/storytelling features of a LoZ could make for something incredible imo. If Sony were to push a concept like this who would you trust making it though?

i know it could have looked a LOT better if it wasn't being squeezed onto a 7.5gig DVD.

like i said before, i'm only mildly interested in this because Ninja Theory did such a great job with Heavenly Sword, and now they are experienced in presenting a larger scale, big budget game.

i just wish that larger scale, big budget game was Heavenly Sword 2 for the PS3.

Sony owns the IP, so who knows, maybe they'll put one of their teams on it (or maybe Sony Santa Monica will take over the franchise after they complete God of War 3. man, THAT'D be awesome).
