Kaz Gets New Job

Even with Sony's problems of late, it's nice to see someone in the company is moving up. Sony Computer Entertainment of America honcho Kaz Hirai has been named an executive vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment's corporate executive group. Ditto for SCE of Europe boss David Reeves. According to the company's website:

"Both Kazuo Hirai and David Reeves will be deeply involved in corporate strategy for the SCE Group from now on, in addition to handling business in North America and Europe."

Sony is loosing EACH QUARTER of this year and also 2005 between 500 and 600 million dollar!!! That's company overall. Just go back in history on this site it was all over it in it's article

Yes ofcourse MS lost money on units, because each unit is costing 175 dollar more then the consumer pays for it. BUT they get money back from

1. attach rate of games is 4.5 game per console x the profit Microsoft Studio makes on those games
2. extra hardware sold is average 3 pieces per console, imagine profits on that
3. XBOX Live with already 3 million people on there. People that will pay for their membership

Sony's PS2 had an attach rate of 1.9 game @ launch. Compare that. Sony can sell consoles, but how much loss stays on that?

Furthermore, every PS64 sold will give a loss of 300 dollar per unit.

If they sell 10 million units, that will be an abnormal

3 Billion dollars

To end with and be over with:

"Overall revenue for the company was noticeably more positive, with revenues up 13 per cent on the same quarter in 2005, at USD 10.9 billion, and overall profit showing an increase of 17 per cent at USD 3.89 billion for the quarter. i have nothing against the xbox 360, but ive been a playstation fan since i was like 6 or something, my neighbor has a 360 and he has one good game out of like 7, and guess what it is, hmmmmmmmmm GRAW. what im saying is i dont care if your a 360 fan or a sony fan, whatever you prefer is your destiny, i will be buying a ps3 because i like there product the sony playstation, i might even get the 360 down the road for saints row and GOW. 360 will be a good console but to me there isnt anything good out as of yet and nothing really wowed me with there new console, all they did was make a more realiable online, but thats ok, i plan on doing more than playing with people online for when the ps3 comes out, and i feel that the playstation has a little more of immersive game experience with the tilt technology that will be in its controller, rumble was fine but thats getting old, we all need something new and the wii and the playstation are bringing that to us, all i see is sony bring new technology to use that truely does make it next gen, such as blue ray, and hdmi, and tilt technology, and cell technology, and other more interesting things. the 360 has what a better online experence as of now which is fine, and what faster processor and graphics chip, im not dissing the 360 but to me it doesnt seem that nest gen and i see it with the ps3, not just because its the console ive like for years but it offers more in the long run. so yea i had some more to talk about but i lost my train of thought. so hit me back up
oh and dont pull that sony liar bullsh!t and they copy, i just dont see how people can say that, im glad kaz is moving up he is a good representative for sony in my opinion as well

Serioulsy warhawk motorstorm and tekken 6 alone without any other games would be better than what 360 had at launch. 360's launch has gone down in history as the worst ever.COD2 was average and it was the best game bar far. "if" your 360 has so much games to play and is such a great consloe why not play it more? Why not spend as much time as possible with it? i am a big sony fan and i will be getting the ps3 for games like, killzone, unreal tornament, grand truismo, devil may cry, metal gear solid, heavenly sword assasin creed and final fantasy...BUT y are they getting promoted??? the ps3 didnt even launch yet so for me it would make sense for them to be promoted when the ps3 is launched on time successfully with some great games(10 will do but no games from EA except for timespliters)

also if ps3 was launched say 2 months ago and i had it no offence but i wont be on this website at all so to all u x-box fanboys take a chill pill and enjoy ur x-box 360, if it is dat great then play it, i guarntee there are my x-box fnaboys than ps3 ones on this site.

PS fans need to start thinking about the future of gamming and not the presesnt..By purchassing the PS3 you the consumer are telling them it is ok for this drastic price jump.. So if sales are good for SONY what do you think SONY,MICROSOFT, and NINTENDO are going to do with their next consoles? I can gaurantee you these will not be the last consoles by far.Every one of them is going to get more and more exspensive, as to some day we will have to go through financing companies just to get a new console..So please just think about you'r decision carefully and what you will be telling SONY as a consumer.
