In the latest round of its continuing legal and PR battle against Sony to get its proprietary rumble effects into the PlayStation 3 console, Immersion Corporation has commissioned a provocative public poll into PlayStation 3 rumble.
I was standing next to a tank in GRAW last night it was cool. lol I also was playing Moto GP and i kicked ass because i could feel the bike. lol
Into adding rumble, no matter what the cost to Sony might be, There are however two winners here. Immersion (ofcourse) and the public who really do need rumble. Far more important than tilt - me thinks.
i hope the two companies settle this dispute soon, i dont care if rumble is gone but i will miss it in the ps3 games, i do think sony should get and intwin both rumble and tilt sensing together, cause i do think there lieing about how the two effect one another, but if they dont bring back rumble, tilt sensing will be kool and i will prolly forget about rumble
Yah some care about it, but personally it would'nt be of big a deal most make it out to be. But it does add richness to the experiance.
let's get real, immersion souly won't be a good enough reason not to get a PS3. BUT, not having it and many other good reasons of not getting a PS3 only adds up. For many it could be the last straw.
if you're basing your descicion to get a ps3 based on the lack of rumble feature, you need to question if you really wanted one in the first place...
no way, I'm just saying that for some people it could be the last straw. Not for me though I'm a lot different.
For some, Rumble is a must-have. Maybe not for Paul. This will just point to lost sales for Sony.
I personally think that people can live with out the vibration. But I think you are a liar if you say you do not want it. Vibration is what made so many games that much more immersive. There is too much to be lost with out this feature. I also see where the motion sensor is cool to but it really sucks and it seems like a way to ride the Wii line a little.
Who are you to say what I want and don't want? I can honestly say that I really don't want rumble, saves me the time it takes to turn the damn thing of in every game, and it's definitely not worth the risk of getting permanent damage in my hands when i get older
lil dude please, damage to your hands when you get older...first of all if you were that worried you wouldn't be doing what you're doing in your room when you think your parents are sleep. Secondly, tomorrow is promised to nobody. So stop foolin yourself you know you love rumble. Just admit.
lol, yeah you're right! It's not like i'd like to be able to play games when i get older, what were i thinking? oh wait... I do! I fail to see how masturbation could possibly be bad for me, but then again you're probably american so that might explain your opinion. And are u telling me that i may not live tomorrow so i shouln't be worried that my action have consequences? Hmm what should i do with this gun? What to do, what to do... P.S. i don't like rumble
Yeah im an American, and now that i know you are not that explains your logic. Now no rumble in games stink, your logic stinks. Now go wash your hands for we all know you've been making your own rumble.
I always wash my hands afterwards, and for ur interest it takes more than some kind of rumble movement to get me going, it's more of a shaking-the-ketchup-bottle movement... or something. Anyway, rumble is useless, get over it!
lol yo, i couldn't care less about you and your ketchup mimmicking. Or if you washed your nasty little hands or whatever you do by your self. all im saying is you love want and need rumble saying anything else then your lying to yourself not me. Now you get over it.
you're the one who brought it up, and i have the right to defend myself, don't i? For the last time, no! i definitely DO NOT care for rumble, how many times do i have to tell u that?
I believe this is Immersion's 15 minutes of fame.
No matter whay you guys think rumble is important, if it wasnt, then ps1 wouldnt have included it, and they wouldnt have included it in the ds2, even though you say you wont miss it, when you finally do play with the ps3 controller you will notice a difference.
Only shame less fan boys say they do not want this feature.
Rumble feature to me is not needed but definetly an added bonus, on the other hand I am happy that we now have a different way to use the controller, it's about time these console companines tried to give us something new. I don't know if I will miss the rumble til I get my PS3 but if motion sensors lives up to it's potential then rumble could become an afterthought. Only time will tell
Naw I think the motion sensors in the ps3 controller are gimmicky and completely unnessary which is evident considering it was a late add on by sony but nintendo did motion sensing correctly WITH RUMBLE.
how would you know anything about Sony's or nintendo's motions sensors.... YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED PS3 OR WII!!!??? Please save your so called "professional opinion" for after you actually use them. Both rumble and motion sensors are gimmicky, that doesn't mean that either one won't be something that gamers will have fun with. Personally I hope motion sensors brings something refreshing and new to how we play games, but I never said that "no rumble" was actually good.....
There's a massive difference to how motion sensing works in the Wii and Sony. You don't need to play them to know. Wii has done it in an excellent manner that'll knock spots of Sony and MS.
Sony decided to not go with it, which I think is a mistake. But I find it wierd that Immersion would be pushing an informal poll to try and egg Sony on. It's a done deal, Immersion. Pray that you get your royalties from the lawsuit.
Immersion sounds like a baby about the situation trying to poll people. Here are the questions: 1)I would definitely not purchase a PS3 without rumble. 2)I would be more likely to purchase an Xbox 360 with rumble. 3)I would be more likely to purchase a Wii with rumble. 4)I would buy a PS3 anyway, but I'd be disappointed [and] It would not affect my decision at all. Why would they think everybody will be disappointed they need to get a grip and move on. I buy systems if the games are good not because of rumble. Is having rumble in the controller a good thing? Yes. But I could live without it.
Agree with you on there.. If anyone needs to be shot, it's Immersion.
Sony messed up big when they decided to not to have rumble in the ps3 controller. I agree with paul that sonys fuk ups along with this could be the last straw on whether or not to get a ps3.
Come on let's all be serious please.... Is it a bad thing that PS3 will have no rumble, I think so. But adding motion sensors could turn out to be a very good thing. Let's not jump to conclusions just yet on a feature we have not used. Hopefully developers will find a way to incorporate this into new games and help bring on a new added feature to us gamers.
Damn, they sound way too full of themselves. They act like not having there rumble feature will detrimental to Sony’s health.
No rumble is a huge loss, saying any different would be lieing. It's simply not next-gen if the video world can't cross over into the physical world. You Sony fanboys are liers. Sports games, fighting games, shooters, games that use rumble to indicate health and future changes/applications to huds in games, get real. Not next-gen...
Its like this Rumble isn't a sattisfier if you have it But it is a dissatisfier if you don't have it. It's like an airconditioning on your car. If you didn't had it before, you won't miss it. If you once had it, you can't go without. I really think it is a miss. I would never buy a console without. It just adds things in games. How do you want to play a FPS and have to know you're getting hit? You're feeling it with rumble. Without rumble you've to make the screen flash red? Tell me guys. Anyone who says he doesn't need rumble. How are you going to notice in FPS that you get shot and on that way that it's not a sh*tty way?
the mart is right about the shooting thing...they will have to make like cod3 and bia differently without the rumble cause ps3 has to have some feaure to tell you your getting shot
that's what surround sound is for...haha.
Um no. Not even remotely funny.
Rumble is good in FPS games but I could live without it. Its just an extra to me. I would give it up anyday for tilt sensors.
So then answer a question: how do you know you're getting hit when you have no rumble so you can feel it?
My television has good sound so whenever I get hit I would hear it. Like I said before Rumble is a nice convient feature but I could do without it.
How can you honestly say this having never tried the tilt features of the 'new' controller? Sounds to me like you are trying to convince yourself with that comment. I guess the fanboys have all gone in a turned off Rumble on their PS2's to get ready for the inevitable. So tell me are you tilting the controller too? Doesn't work that well does it? Don't worry the final PS3 controller will provide the same 'advancement' in gameplay!!
Haha that sound thing you mention is dull. Come on. If you're in the heat of the moment, guns are firing, all the background noise, granates coming in, you might not hear you're getting hit. Meanwhile the enemy could stand behind you and shoot you couple of times in your back. Dead my friend. With rumble you feel there's something else going on even if you hear all other stuff going on. Or do you want the PS64 to flash the screen red when you get hit. Well that's innovation!
theMart your question is stupid "how do you know". how do you know when you play pc games ? because you see this on the screen and you hear this. thats all. you dont need rumble to notice that someone shoots at you.
dude that's so lame, you know you would rather have rumble and surround sound, just admit it, come on..."I dont need rumble, I have surround sound" so let me ask you this...if their is a gun shot and you hear it all that tells you is their was a gun shot...you don't know if it hit or was directed at you, right?
Dude, Dont start telling people what they want. What you want is fine, but dont try and tell others what they want when you dont know. I personally wont miss it that much. I turn it off alot anyway and think its used up and old. Time for something new.
When you hear a gunshot and it hits you, the screen and character both shake and you might see blood. When you hear a gunshot and it doesn't hit you then you just hear it. Rumble would be good to have but its okay if the PS3 doesn't have it, in other words I can live without it.
You can try to talk round things straight, but it's a big miss. It just is. Shaking screens? well that will help you in the game. The character shakes? You are trying ways to defend a loss. Which loosing Rumble is. And movement this way, in a normal controller has been tried before by MS for the PC. People saw it as an gimmick for 5 minutes. BUT the Wii controller is different, it's not the normal shaped controller. It's a stick. Usable for tennis, golf, sword fighting, which I won't see people do with the PS2 reused design. That will only be used in games like Warhawk going up and down AND THE BEST THING IS THERE IS ONLY ONE, I REPEAT ONE GAME THAT USES MOVEMENT OPTION That's damn sad
Its' time for something new?, oh you mean that [email protected] ass tilt feature im not bashing, if tilt was for the 360 i would toss it out of my 2nd story window and thats real.
I can see it now, having some buddies over having a couple of beers playing with that silly ass tilt controller twisting and turning my wrist and sitting completely still like a foolish idiot. It's a joke Sony had to do something right.
I agree, all that twisting and moving would be kinda silly. Its cool for nintendo's fan base but as far the adults its just silly.
You stupid xbots make fun of the ps3 tilt feature but yet most of you say you are going to get a Wii.That does not make any sense at all,you say you dont want to look foolish playing a ps3 controller but yet you wont playing the wii.dolby just STFU and go play your trashbox 360
Every one knows that rumble isn't necessary. But not having it does suck. I turned my vibration off on my 360 just to see how would it be for ps3 users. But the truth is i had alot of fun with graw with it off. But that was a choice, see not having it at all. Is really a step backwards. All this blu fish technology and all that with no rumble, its just weird. But not the end of the world.
I'm sorry gametime but that tilt controller sh!t is [email protected] as hell and has nothing to do with Sony it's stupid and like i said if it was for 360 and DEV's did'nt give you an option to turn it off i personally would toss the console. Rumble is far better and you just wait and see how silly it will be to the masses with half assed tilt controlls in standard gaming.
I hate the Wii and i never said i liked it. You're not very smart are you?.
Um...the tilt and the Nintendo Wii are far different in how their played, the Wii is kinda cool...I personally think the tilt would make your wrists tired after a while...and the wii probably too...I just think the wii's aspects of jabbing and slashing and how their into the gameplay is cool, the tilt is just moving the controller around, think about it on day one are you going to be playing warhawk and moving around your living room and not feel like a dork if your wife, mom, dad, sister, roommate whatever walks in? I know I would...but it's cool if you like it
Wii is a party and family console and is differernt than PS3 so i agree with you, Wii is a complete interactive console.
you know when your getting shot in a game like say halo or killzone, those red dash things come up and shows you the direction its coming from, that tell you ur getting hit or you could just look at your health, is everybody retarded when it comes to games damn. whats so wrong with bring something new to the table then just having rumble for 15 years and running, so thats how youll now your getting hit with out the rumble just look at the damn screen hmmmmmmmm thats to hard i guess, sony copied that as well didnt they, idiots bringing your trash in here
Deep down you know tilt is a [email protected] ass feature too that's why you're calling people names; you're angry' just an theory, let all out; it's all right. Better not sneezzz while you play, maybe they should just get rid of the pause button Warhawk is not a game you wan't to pause. lol No matter how you guy's spin it that tilt sh!t is ridiculous.
FPS's shines the most on PC's and they don't use the rumble feature. I mean how dumb would it be if your mouse was vibrating?
But yet theres tons of gamer's that don't play on the PC. lol
Has anyone here actually tried tilt or the wii's controller yet? I don't understand how someone can come to an conclusion about how something sucks without ever even trying it? I'm not saying rumble isn't good, I personally think rumble is great, but things get old. Motion sensors bring us a new aspect to gaming and is something I am very excited to try out. All this talk about "how will you know when your shot" is ignorant. PC players have gone without rumble and if you really "need" rumble to know when your being hit then your using rumble as a crutch. Lets not make rumble into something it is not gamers. Yes it's a nice feature but it's about time we gamers have got something new to utilize. All I'm really saying is let's not knock it til we try it please..........
Rumble is no loss on PS64 That's why ONLY ONE game is working with movement up till now THe great N64 uh PS64 game: Warhawk
rumble is not neede !!! a play all the time without rumble on pc !!! do i need it ??? no !!! so stop bashing xrats, we know you want only bash and thats apoint where you can bash, but this feature is not needed, and when you need it then go buy a xbox360.
that's why Sony implemented it in the PS2 controller? Because it was not needed? Right. So movement is the next big thing huh? It was just to keep fans satisfied otherwise they would get less period. The Wii controller, now that's innovation. Movement AND rumble AND speaker integrated. So what games do work with your expensive PS2 rippoff movement controller then? ow ONLY WARHAWK
Dude, it was an extra feature, really fun to have, but it wasn't necessary. And ok, the Wii controller is impressive, but Sony isn't Nintendo. They ain't that innovated. The Wii is all about the controller so that was more worked on, Xbox360 was more of the Live, and no body hasn't given a duck's ass to what the PS3 is all about except for the Blu-Ray which is a crapshoot.
lol and the mart metal gear solid will use tilt and so will tekken( dont ask me for a link i dont have time to look into my history bar) so stop jumping to conclusions. and we need rumble wtf is tilt i dont need it is bullshit and i am a big sony fan so immersions just agree with sony and send me a ps3 ^^
That's not confirmed. They only said they will give it a look. But still
Developers for both MGS4 and FFXIII have said they are excited about the tilt feature and are currently looking for ways to make use of this feature in their games. research it if you want, but I read about that on this game site.
on one hand, they can just eat the cost of the lawsuit and then pay Immersion again for the rumble license. while on the other hand, is it worth it all just for that rumble vibration ability? they're already in deep debt. oh and Immersion's logo is hand(what a coincidence) so which decision hand to take. hmmm...
Immersion is polling to try to get sony to see the importance of rumble and they are trying to get sony to pay up instead of taking the easy way out of the situation if somebody owed me over 90 million dollars id be on their ass about it too
Sony caught lying again, and refusing to admit they were wrong (Again!) When Immersion sued Microsoft, they looked at things, realized they were wrong, settled with Immersion and bought stock in their company. Sony, on the other hand, refuses to admit they did anything wrong even though they lost the court case with Immersion, and instead add some jacked-up tilt feature to the PS3 and leave rumble out. All of a sudden, it is "unnecessary" and "won't work with the tilt functionality." BULLSH!T. Sony knows it will eventually lose its appeals against Immersion, and is only playing for time. When they eventually play out these appeals, it is a distinct possibility that they will have to pull the PS2, all dual-shock controllers, and most games that use rumble from the shelves as part of the judgement against them. Does Sony care? NO. By then they hope to have the PS3 on the market, and this will only help them sell more $50- $60 dollar wireless controllers and more $60- $70 dollar PS3 games, since PS2 controllers won't work with the PS3 AT ALL, and gamers who missed some good PS2 games won't be able to add them to their backwards-compatible collection. The funny thing is that Immersion realizes that with no rumble in PS3, or any PS3 games, they will lose a LOT of licensing money. They have tried to negotiate a deal with Sony, even developing ON THEIR OWN technology that allows tilt and rumble in the same controller, and offered to show Sony how it is done. A deal with Immersion would be the best possible scenario for Sony AND gamers, who could then have tilt AND rumble. Sony, however, who will never admit to wrong-doing, would rather screw gamers and, in the long run, screw themselves. THEY could have polled gamers and asked what they would rather have, but Sony's way is to TELL consumers what they want, instead.
