Level-5 Shows Uematsu-Scored RPG, Delays Ghibli Game

Wired: Professor Layton maker Level-5 said Tuesday that it would release a new RPG with music by Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu, but also had some bad news: Its anticipated collaboration with Studio Ghibli would be pushed back to 2010.

Fantasy Life, the RPG, will be developed by Brownie Brown, the house behind such big-name portable role-playing games as Sword of Mana and Mother 3. It is slated for a 2010 release. The game (illustrated lower right) clearly bears quite the resemblance to Mother/Earthbound, no?

Level-5 announced one other new title at the event: Mystery Room (left), a new entry in its Atamania series of puzzle games. In this one, you’re a pair of detectives solving crimes by investigating the items in each crime scene. I’m sure it’s full of those stabbed-through-the-heart-but-there’s-no-knife-only-a-puddle-of-water type puzzles.
