Square Enix reveals Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Square Enix has decided to open the official website of Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Although only the flash intro is available, it does give us a bit of new information:

· 'Dissidia' is indeed Final Fantasy title, but not a Final Fantasy XIII spin-off as rumors suggested.

· Tetsuya Nomura is in charge of Character Design.

· The game logo is revealed.

too many spin-offs, what else is new?....While I still like JRPG's, I find myself liking Western/European RPG's more and more.

Something is happening in the Japanese gaming culture and I don't think it's good for Japan. They are stuck on "games for japan only"

About the JRPG thingie, squeenix is producing a new RPG, The Last Remnant, taking into account the North American audience.

But let's hope Squeenix can pull all these projects decently, and not rush them up. I don't recall anytime where they had this number of games in production.

They are milking the FF name for all its worth it might take some of the excitement out of what FF used to be, when everything they are releasing is a ff game

Who cares? The games are great fun. Its not "milking" its a different storyline with different characters all happening in a different way. Mario and Zelda are milking. Final Fantasy VII compiliation is milking, making a new Final Fantasy PSP title is not.

Im glad they're making one properly and I hope its not sprites. PSP needs more good games.

wow this franchise is becoming a mario or megaman at one point you get sick of playing the same so square should take it easy with all this f-f thing.

Square Enix has a hell of alot of titles on the rise right now.
It is kinda becoming like Mario/Sonic/Megaman.
But.
Knowing Square, Some of these games will be AMAZING(ex.FF13).
my point is.
I don`t think they`d be pushing out this many games, if most of them aren`t going to be AMAZING....they might be on to something.
But.
Some probaly won`t be good.
but 3/5 would be grrrrreat.

difference is that final fantasy stories almost never have the same characters, NEVER the same story, (link killing ganon and having to get the master sword again for 20 years) if square wanted to they could release each numbered final fantasy as a different title and they cud because each number is a different game, different universe. i just think people are used the the FF name so they keep it.
besides zelda, mario, metroid fans never complain about milking htose franchises. 8 mario party's in less than 5 years???? but anyway lol

oh and read correctly, dissidia isn't part of the 13 universe.

More and more about Square Enix's impending Final Fantasy party -- May 12 and 13, also known as next week -- is leaking through the cracks, as the company has launched a teaser website for an upcoming PSP release entitled Final Fantasy: Dissidia.

All we have on the game is that Tetsuya Nomura of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy Versus XIII is handling character designs, it's on PSP and we should know more about it next week. Until then, speculate away, folks."

Yeah SE does have a whole lot of games they are working on right now. 1 Wii title for sure, 3 DS games, 2 PSP plus the FF1&2 remake, 3 FF's, and a MMO, and that's just what they announced! I guess if you have 2 solo companies working together you can get a lot of manpower but dang... Ah well I'm happy but me pocket book isn't

so true, this year is to crazy for our pockets. and yup psp is taking a while but theres finally some good things comin out for it, and some decent ones now. oh and star ocean 4 they're working on too. and that new kingdom hearts for DS and psp YAY!

I definitely think this is "milking." With Mario games, it may be the same character but the gameplay is usually different each time. Final Fantasy may use different characters, but these days they might as well all be the same. The gameplay, if it varies, it doesn't do so to any benefit. They should not only change characters but also add something new to the gameplay that's really desireable. I mean, after Final Fantasy VII the stories have all gone down-hill, and the games have gotten easier, more and more linear, and very unfulfilling. I absolutely loved FF3 (aka FFVI), but FFX was mostly cutscenes and incredibly boring. I've turned to Western RPGs because of their open-endedness and replayability. Not that a JRPG doesn't have any replayability, but it requires a good story and immersive gameplay which has been seriously lacking for years. I want a compelling story, not another manga.
