Id suffers splash damage?

Recent screenshots seem to suggest that SplashDamage’s version of megatexturing may surpass id software’s own. In this recent interview with quakeunity, Paul wedgewood of Splash Damage refers to "developing Sparse Virtual Texturing", suggesting that they are not lisencing the id tech5 engine but have developed there own megatexturing system independent of id software’s. These latest screenshots suggest that Brink’s engine may deliver a superior graphical punch.
