NCAA Football 10 Sees 20% Drop in Sales

During Electronic Arts’ most recent fiscal conference call executives plainly stated that NCAA Football 10 was tracking behind expectations. With the NPD data for July having just released, we now have a clearer picture of how EA Sports’ latest college football title has been performing. When combining SKUs, the title was actually the best selling game of the month (ahead of Wii Sports Resort) with 689K units sold.

As Broadpoint AmTech analyst Ben Schachter points out, those 689K units represent sales for the first 19 days at retail, and when compared to the same 19-day period for NCAA Football 09, it’s a 20% drop off from 864K units sold last year at this time. We’re not sure exactly why sales dipped. Metacritic scores for last year’s version and this year’s edition are nearly identical (in the low 80s).
