Röcktöber Is Still On!

There was a little bit still going on in the background over the release of Brütal Legend. Lawsuits galore. In fact it got to a point where EA and Double Fine's release date, coined Röcktöber, was not going to be met. Even after all the dough that EA has pumped out there to pump this game out to the masses, in publicities form. This could have dealt a huge blow to EA and most likely ruined Double Fine all together.

Activision made the decision not to release it; we'll soon know why.
By the way, the grammar in the referenced (aggrogamer.com) article is terrible. If Corey wants to become a games journalist, I wish he'd learn how to write!

Can't wait for this game.

Buy this game instead of MW2, until Activsion lowers the price of buy MW2 second hand.

If this was a milkage worthy Guitar Hero title rather than yet another awesomely unique, filled with character Tim Schafer game, then Activision would have never let it go. It will be all the better being far, far away from the likes of Activision. At least EA saw it for what it was and is promoting it as such. Props to EA for the turn around they have done in the past 2 years or so.

This game...holy heck. Makes me feel old.

gamer7804905d ago

I loved that game. Unlocked every song

MadLad905d ago

Liked the aesthetic, tone, humor, and action combat.
Didn't care for the RTS elements.

Never cared to finish it.

Yeah they marketed the game like it was a Heavy Metal GTA-ish adventure. And at the beginning of the game that's what it was. The game fell apart when the half-baked RTS stuff came in. I'd be interested in a reboot or sequel, but just go full action adventure and ditch the RTS. There really is something there with the Heavy Metal theme.

Ryushaa905d ago

I feel you. I just hacked the game to have infinite life/RTS resources

PS360 gen was special, then again it was still the mid 2000s. Everything went to shite in the teens

I think that was the breaker for Doublefine's creative ambitions and their mixing of genres (which was getting kinda stale). It was a nice to look at but it was more of a tribute to the many things Tim loves, was influenced by and has great admiration for....but the forced RTS stuff was like a drinking buddy's "great idea" that never should have come to light. The game seemed a lot more vast, but it ended pretty quickly too. And Jack Black. As much as I don't care for him as an actor (annoying and requires constant attention), this was absolutely made with him in mind and it worked. I mean come on, Tenacious D? For as Metal as this game was trying to be, even comically, it did little more than meow.
