Shortly before the release of the title everyone was calling Aveyond 3, developer Amaranth Games announced a change of strategy: Instead of the latest game in the Aveyond series being a sprawling 50-hour role-playing adventure like its two predecessors, it would instead be released as several smaller "episodes" offering about 10 hours of playtime each. The first such episode is Aveyond: Lord of Twilight.
GIN writes: "Classic role-playing games have sort of become cliché in indie gaming circles. Many indie developers have attempted to create games that are reminiscent of yesteryear, because those games greatly influenced modern RPGs as well as their developers. But as you have probably guessed, some do a better job of this than others. Some feel too stale or fail to live up to expectations. Here is another entry into this RPG category: Aveyond: Lord of Twilight."
Stardock has released Impulse's top ten sellers list for the week ending on December 12.
Game Tunnel writes: "At this point, I think that we (the independent gaming community) have just about perfected the classic RPG genre. There has been a swell in RPG-maker RPGs lately, and they've been only increasing in quality. A fine example would be the latest in the Aveyond series, Aveyond: Lord of Twilight."
